Down 38-3 in the 3rd quarter to Northwestern.

It's the biggest comeback in NCAA Division I-A history. 2nd place: 31 points -- when Maryland beat Miami 42-40 on Nov. 10, 1984 and when Ohio State defeated Minnesota 41-37 on Oct. 28, 1989.

44-7 in the 3rd.
Ouch.
Good to know John L's most memorable victory will be one over North-fucking-western.

There is no conceivable reason they don't fire John LLLLL after this latest debacle. That program is taking one big nose dive. Stanton is gone after this year...it's time for a change up in East Lansing. It's gone from funny to pathetic...State has no business being this bad.

i pile on state for the sake of piling on, but i can't remember the last time the team was this fucking bad. i guess losing to indiana for the first time that i can remember says a lot. if i'm correct, john L was a mason hire. way to go, ron. at least you got the hockey program turned around.

Uhh, Stanton is the only reason they've even won a game. To suggest he doesn't know how to scramble is fucking retarded. He was the sole engineer of that 35 point comeback win, and all the talent that is supposed to surround him is injured.
But I suppose it was his fault fucking Indiana dropped 40+ on State's D.
MSU has a lot of weaknesses. Stanton isn't exactly one of them.

Losing Ringer hurt them but you're right Mgo, that defense is hideous. That program needs a total shakedown...I'm hearing some rumblings about the Sparties stealing Ron English away from Michigan and get a new defensive attitude in East Lansing.

i never said he doesn't know how to scramble. reach, much? in fact, stanton is a pretty good scrambler considering his protection dissolves at the snap of the ball. but let me clarify that for you: stanton has the proclivity to make monumentally boneheaded decisions at the most inopportune times. for example, his beautiful pick he forced trying to thread the needle among three IU defenders, and i don't think i have to justify NOT throwing the ball into triple coverage. i'd go into more detail for you, but compiling all the stupid shit he's done in all the previous games this year would take me all night.
stanton is a tremendous talent and a hell of an athlete to boot, too bad he makes things much more difficult for himself with his questionable decision making (the NW game not included). and yes, the defense is much more of a problem than stanton, but even ryan van dyke could have thrown for more than 100 yards today.

I didn't exactly assume you were being charitable, here.
Stupid is usually synonymous with "not knowing what you're doing."

I agree he's made a lot of "risky" decisions, many of which have resulted badly, but if his team's defense stopped giving him 20 point deficits to work with, he'd be able to play a little more conservatively.

Stanton is a damn good college football player. It's not his fault he plays for MSU

I would have to agree. When you must to carry your team and your D puts you in must-score situations you will approach things a little differently.
Hoeppner was a great hire by Indiana, he really seems to have that program headed in the right direction. John L is just plain done at MSU. Today was the last straw.
Any idea who MSU's next coach will be? A defensive guru from one of the powers? A non-BCS conference HC?

It is the same shit at MSU, regardless of the coach. The team appears to be doomed to shocking highs and lows.

Huh? I assume nobody put a gun to his head when he made his decision.
Edit: I get what you were trying to say, but I had to be a smartass and throw that in.

its funny, big ten homers on this board saying that the big 12 is the joke?
lets set the facts on the table, other than the top two teams, the rest of the big ten is a sad pathetic joke, in fact,
nebraska texas a+m and texas tech would destroy the other 8 teams in your joke of a conf.
come bowl time, just like every other year, a mediocre nebraska team will fuck a big ten team as usual,
penn st.? minnesota? purdue? indiana? northwestern? michigan st? every single one of your pathetic teams is weak ass, homo material,
which is why, the entire country will find out that the current no. 2 team in the country, michigan, is overrated.
you heard it here first, michigan is way overrated.

being the faggotty big ten pussy you are.

brad,
Any chance you can start using [trolling] [/trolling] in your posts so I know when you're acting out your role as a shit troll, and when you're actually trying to form a legitimate CF "take?"
Thanks in advance.

sure, when you start admitting that the big ten is a soft joke, and has been for decades, then, and only then, will I admit to being a piece of shit troll.

No conference is one way or the other all the time, brad. I've seen the Big Ten go 5-0 in bowl games. I've seen 'em tank. I've seen the conference littered with top 25 teams. I've seen it with just three.
Conference strength is cyclical, and that's because the success of individual teams is cyclical. Why do I have to explain something so elementary to you?
The ACC is a perfect example. Teams like Va Tech, FSU, and Miami will soon slip out of mediocrity and turn back into the powerhouses we know them to be, making that conference one of the best, if not possibly the best, in years to come.
All things considered, I generally view the SEC as being the toughest conference, from a year-to-year standpoint.

ive always felt that talking about whose conf. is the toughest, is a joke, in and of itself,
imagine if they did that in the NFL, my division is tougher than yours, well, they dont, because in the end, the super bowl champ, is all that matters,
the steelers of last year, were the champs, PERIOD. despite the fact that they'd been beaten 5 times,
one day, I envision a college football world, where the national champs have 2 or 3 losses, IN FACT, I envision a college season, where an unbeaten 12-0 ohio st. can get into a playoff, and be beaten by a 3 loss team,
I think the reason why so many folks brag about how strong their conf. is, is because it makes a stronger case for their team being better than another team, well, a future playoff will finally put to rest all those conf. debates.
plus, when an sec homer talks about how tough the sec is, and 0-4 colorado walks into georgia's crib, and basically georgia barely survives with their life, all that tough sec talk goes right out the window,
it proves that on any given saturday, a bottom feeder can come into an sec crib, and physically push em' around, WHAT MORE PROOF DO YOU NEED?
