Is that when a certain team begins winning suddenly EVERYONE is a fan of them. In the past few days I've noticed around here more and more Bears jerseys shirts, hats etc. BRAND NEW jerseys, hats, shirts etc. Whats more annoying is that half of these tools cant even name a member of the team besides the familiar names like Urlacher Grossman etc. Frontrunning fans are the bottom end of the sports fan food chain IMO.

Same fuckin' thing going on here in San D.
I've NEVER seen this much Bear/Steeler shit in my entire life combined before this year.
Then again, you cant really blame the dumbfucks down here for being fairweather faggots-This is the home of one of the biggest shitbag teams and organizations in pro football history. The vag disCharge's lifelong ineptitude has undeniably forced most of these hometown peeps into rooting for someone else.

Did you just use the word, "peeps?"
Also, it's not like the Chargers are without history. They're just not the Raiders. (Few are...) And, while I'm thinking about it, I wonder how much of that Chargers gear is on the backs and heads of people that were wearing Raiders gear a few years ago?
By the way, how do you feel about the guy that you should have drafted rolling into your house?

Short Answer-Alcula is a complete and utter dumbfuck who needs to die or step the fuck down immediately. His constant draft fuckups are
well documented (A fucking
kicker in the first round?)
.....on the road to 0-16, this loss will be particularly painful because of what could have been had
anyone else been running the show and saw the need to fill the most important position on the field correctly.
I dont like Walter at all. I couldnt stand him on the college level, and I cant fucking stand him donning the Silver and Black.
How do you feel about your badass tailback flying our colors next year?

The guy
I feel we shoulda drafted stuffed us like a turkey in week 2. That Ngata kid from Oregon would have been a better pick than Huff and even Lienart. Tommy Kelly is struggling and Sapp is a fat clown that we shoulda let the Bungles sign.
Now that I think about it, we shoulda kept the draft pick in 2005 kept Harris and drafted Merrimon with that pick. THAN with the pick we got from the Jets for Jolley drafted Aaron Rogers.
But what do I know I've just been a fan of the team since I was 8.

Man, you guys are in such desperate need of a QB that you were starting Aaron Brooks. Don't tell me that you needed Ngata worse, even though you DO need a 2 gap D Tackle.
R.J. -- Man, honestly, I'd HATE to see AD in the Silver and Black. I love the guy, and he's sooooo much more of a badass in person, by the way, but with your current offensive line, his life expectancy would be roughly Week 3.
But yeah, if you guys put together a line in the next year, HOWEVER you have to do it, AD could damn near make Walter look like Leinart. :D

It's a known fact that everyone loves a winner, so it's not so surprising when you see folks sporting the gear of the latest 'HOT' team.
It's also fair to say that most of these new found bandwagoneers were probably closet fans of those teams to begin with, and then rushed out and bought some shiny new stuff once their formerly forlorn team got back near the top.
Right, wrong, or indifferent, that's just the way it is.

See, I think that's why these boards, and the people on them, have survived through so many different incarnations. We aren't those kind of fans. I was at OU, cheering my balls off, even during the John Blake era. I was a fan when I was a kid and Barry was a coach. I'm a fan as an alum with Stoops being the coach. I'm a fan, no matter what. That's how ALL of us are. R.J. isn't going to stop talking about the Raiders just because they're about to make NFL history. That's why I love these boards. Also, expect to see some more of me on the NFL board this year. I still haven't really aligned with any team, but I love former Sooners in the NFL... especially guys I know well like Mark Clayton.

Hey, I do NOT want to see A. Brooks back out on the field when he is 'healthy' again.
There is no future there.
I want Walter to get more time on the field so that Oakland can hopefully get a feel for what they have in him.

I'm obviously seeing that over here as well. I'm still wearing my Dean Palmer jersey to games and people are looking at me funny and give me grief about it. I wear it mostly to show that I'm not a bandwagon jumper. All the clowns at the game yesterday were just buying up the World Series gear yesterday at the game. If the Cardinals win, I wonder how much of that stuff will get stuck in a closet never to be seen again.

I don't know if thats fair to say. I think most of them latch on to a team like the Tigers because they're the not the Yankees, Braves, etc.
And yes, it was a brand new Walmart special Tigers hat.

True story.
I wore my old Jeff Hostetler jersey to the gym about 3 years ago and I ran into a guy wearing a Raider t shirt and hat. We exchange pleasantries and he then looks at the name on the back of my jersey.
Guy: Hey man whos Hostetler? That your last name?
Me: Uh noooo he was our QB from 93 to 96 remember?
him: Huh?oh!!Oh yeah,yeah! *looking confused*
Mind you this guy was maybe 6 years older than I was.

I got that exact thing yesterday before I went into the ballpark last night. There was a big screen in the parking lot by Comerica with the Michigan-Iowa game on and a lot of people were just standing around to watch the end of it. Two guys walked up to me and asked if Palmer was my last name since it was on my jersey. I think most of the fairweather fans didn't realize there was a guy before Pudge that wore #7. Also, they were looking for extra tickets and of course, I didn't have any. Good luck to any schmo walking around asking people for tickets to the game and not having to spend out of their ass for them. If you don't have tickets, just stay home and save your money for something constructive. Bad enough I dropped $225 for my seat...and that's face value...and they played like crap to boot.

Just askin'.
First off, he's an Arizona State alum-which means he can suck a fat fucking horsecock before playing in traffic.
Being a pac-10 player meant that I saw a lot of him when he played......bottom line: he wasnt all that impressive. Another problem: Injuries. This motherfucker tore his groin out of nowhere on a routine pass early last season. Fucking dipshit. Couple that with his shoulder surgery not long before that, and its painfully obvious that its only a matter of time before this fuck is permanently layed up in the Raider infirmary.
His passes look like shit, he cant read the field for shit.......yes, I know its his first year.
Overall, he reminds me too fucking much of Jay Schroeder.
To me, Leinart was a once in a decade QB-He lost
2 fucking games his
entire collegiate career, is accurate as fuck, played and flourished greatly in a pro system, had 3 national championship game appearances-winning 2 with a very close loss in his final one.
Most of all, dude was a great, great LEADER. All he did was fucking win, and he did it with flash, guts, leadership, and determination........and, having grown up rooting for and loving the Raiders, he
wanted to be one. (Which is very fucking rare these days.) This cat did things that the most celebrated QB's today couldnt fucking do. Not the Manning brothers, Not Brady, Not Palmer.....Not
Anyone.
But Alvis doesnt draft QB's in the first round after The Todd Experiment that happened almost 15 years ago.
Al fucking blew it. Again.
I know i'm a little harder than I should be on Walter......but flashes of Jay pop into my head every time I see that assfuck launch a missile that isnt close to its intended target. Mark my words-We
WILL regret not drafting Leinart when he's turning that shithole franchise around and taking them to the playoffs in the coming years.
Die Alcula, DIE.
oh, and RACK R-Jack.

Even Schroeders dumb ass won a few games under center for us.
Leinart will prove to be the
much, much better pro after both of thier careers are said and down. Period.

I'm not coming at you, James.
Just giving Walter his due.
Kid's in a tough spot QBing this team right now.
He's gettin' it done today and it's good to see something positive for a change.
I think he just got hurt though ... hmmmmm.....
Lienart's in a tough spot in AZ too.
If your take is Lienart will have the better career .... ok.
I think most folks would agree with that.
His stat line looks like holy hell today, and it looks like it's going down as a Raider W.
Cool by me.

Leinart won't do much as long as the card's anemic running game stays stuck in neutral. Hell, for as long as I can remember the Cards have had a lame O-line. Didn't watch the Dierdorf/Dobler era but heard enough about it when the Dorf was on MNF. When Bugel was brought in as Cards coach I thought they might get to work on that deficiency, didn't happen. This year the good news: they got Edge. The bad? Still no line.
If Denny is truly the West Coast wiz he should still be able to get something done because as we all know the west coast system doesn't rely on a dominating O-line, just a unit better than five guys named Mo.
BTW- Walter leaves the game with a groin as of this post. RJ called it.

Walter appears to me to have above average pocket awareness.
He's not a 'mobile' QB, but he does have a feel for pressure and an ability to slide within the pocket well.
He actually looks much more experienced than he is in that regard, IMO.
Too many turnovers in his 4 starts.
I keep hearing him say he's disappointed in the turnovers and that job #1 for the QB is taking care of the ball .... but ... he's continued to give it up.
You're going to have to go through that with a young QB, and especially when he's playing behind a very poor O-line.
Can't blame the kid for having no feeling of security in the pocket.
Some of the sacks are on him, but not the vast majority.
I wanted Oakland to try to trade up and draft D'Brickshaw Ferguson in rd 1.
I think it's fashionable to bang on Al for EVERYTHING right now.
I can't fault him for passing on Lienart.
They used a 3rd on their 'QB of the future' the year previous.
If you draft Lienart then what to make of the player (and the pick) that is your guy of the future ... ?
It's just a burned pick .... good for nothing ... ?
Some people had Walter as the top QB in his draft ..... and injury concern dropped him down.
I think you give the kid a chance to play.
If he shows that he really can't hack it at the NFL level then you go looking for a QB.
Hell, what year has there NOT been a 'can't miss NFL star QB of the future' on the board .... ?
Seems like a yearly deal to me, I dunno.
Maybe Lienart ends up being Steve Young II ..... maybe not.

Face it Tart, Al couldnt wait to get rid of the very things that brought this team back into the winning fold........namely, the west coast offense and gruden.
The old man is a pathetic fuckup with a massive ego. Period.
I can't fault him for passing on Lienart.
Really? On a guy who would've been the
only QB to lead his college team to the first 3peat in College football history?!?
USC won alot of those fucking games riding on Matts shoulders. Dude was nothing short of incredible in a pro based system.
They used a 3rd on their 'QB of the future' the year previous.

Not at all. Al could've dealt Walter-there are plenty of teams looking for a QB yearly.
Some people had Walter as the top QB in his draft ..... and injury concern dropped him down.
Hows that working out for us again?
I think you give the kid a chance to play.
Tart, Schroeder II isnt going to last more than a half season in ANY given year without being injured. Our backups over the next few years will be seeing more playing time than he will.
Maybe Lienart ends up being Steve Young II ..... maybe not.
The kid is pretty damn incredible for a rook..........too bad he's stuck in AZ. Every time he rolled up to the center to snap, there was at least 10 seconds on the fucking gameclock. He has incredible poise, and didnt get rattled during the onslaught of our guys.

Word is that Walter will start v. Pittsburgh this Sunday.
Hey, playing behind the shit line, the kid has been banged around in every game so far.
Sacked 22 times in 4 games.
Name me a QB that
wouldn't have a sore groin by now.
It's just a little odd that you trash the guy when he's showing toughness and poise.
He has yet to really give you a REASON to trash him.
Here's was a kid with almost no regular season experience, and he was dropped in to lead an offense with almost NOTHING in place to help him.
An abortion, basically.
Tough gig.
If he gives me legit reason to trash him, believe me, I WILL.
So far I find no fault with him at all, and I actually find him to be one of the guys that it's easy to root for.

technically Leinart only played in 2 championship games....since the split/debatable NC (03) was NOT in a game that had SC lost the other team would not have won a part or any of a NC.
that being said, i was nothing but impressed with Leinart as a college player. even before he waxed Oklahoma in 04.

I'm with pop on this. Walter got thrown into a TOUGH situation when Brooks went down. The OL has been shit and played like shit yesterday. Good thing the Cards Oline didnt feel like playing either. Ber tBerry made Gallery his bitvh all damn day yesterday. I hate to say it but maybe this guy IS a bust. I remember loudly calling for him to be drafted in 2004. I still stand by it as we needed OL help at the time. Back to Walter he has the tools he just needs to be able to read defenses and not lead his recievers so much. for a big guy his mobility is underrated but he neds to step it up as a leader. Be more vocal.
Also an OC who has a gameplan relevant to this century might help as well. Give Walter a chance RJ hes in a tough situation right now.

Gallery was the solid pick at the time.
Folks like to take shots at Oakland for drafting him, but the truth is that it was widely viewed as a very good pick.
Might be fair to say that Oakland hasn't 'raised him up' properly, I dunno.
Maybe he's just never really was all that he was believed to be.
Whatever the case, and I hate to say it, but I'm believing he needs to be moved back over to RT and we need to go out and find a legit LT.
Sucks.
The O-line is in for a major overhaul in the off-season.

I agree that Gallery hasn't gotten the proper schooling his first 3 years there. You'd think with both Shell,AND Slater they'd get the nastiness to show up. and its just not there. He looks so passive on plays. the first move they must make is to dump fatboy Walker. the guy is and to quote the great film "Casino" useless as tits on a boar. He blocked a couple field goal attempts, thats nice.but the boy cant block or stay focused worth shit! Jake Grove has played decent,no dumb penalties and isnt getting tossed out of the way by the DTs.
I hate to bring up 1997 but I remember that we passed on Walter Jones for Darrell Russell. I do recall we traded up in hopes of landing Orlando Pace. Its a mute point its just me overanalyzing again.

Just revisiting this thread since i've been extremely busy lately.
Pop and TAJT-you're both right concerning Walter showing 'toughness and poise'. More than anything, I just dont fucking like the dude after seeing him in college.........the injuries also seem to be a yearly part of this guy's routine as well.
Hopefully, I end up unltimately being wrong about that last comment.
I wanted Leinart, and regardless of what the fuck is said here, we needed to draft a guy like him to build an entire franchise around. My hatred for Al grew to it's very peak after the words 'Micheal Huff' were uttered. Al is still a scared little bitch over fucking up his most recent first round QB selection. Fucking old pussy.
If he truly had half of the football skeelz left that everyone sucks his dick about, he would've snapped up Leinart (who again, WANTED to be a Raider) and let him lead our charge back to respectability.
As it stands, we'll undoubtedly be signing Matt when he's 45 and be listening to Alcula beep from his fucking oxygen tanked scooter about how he should've drafted him way back when, and the "Raidaaaaah's greatnesssss is in thier futaaah" after yet another pathetic 3-13 season.

However the 2 QBs who won Super bowls with the Raiders didn't have those type of arms.
