Is it worth the $12.95 a month subscription?

Just bought my daughter a car that has the hardware already installed, so figured I'd hook her up for at least one month and find out.

Anybody else ever have it?

Impossible.

You give your kids everything that you're able and then some, going in debt up to the eyebrows while your at it.

Howard Stern can get your daughter some implants if she rides the "Sybian" with her mom.

I've had both, and in my opinion Sirius is much better as of now. Better music selection, better live shows, better Indie rock and college sports/NFL/NBA. Couldn't drive without it.

I have sirius and think it's better than xm, but both are WAY better than regular radio.

Wags, by you asking, means you question the question you are raising, and you know the answer. Fuck no.

Lil Miss Wags, is a frosh in college, right? Lemme guess, you are already spending a dime or two. Laptop, all the shit for the dorm, prolly has an Ipod, and God only knows what else she has milked you for.

The most I would do, is dangle a carrot. "Yes, we can get you XM in this car, and we will be happy to do so, if you finish the year with a 3.5 or better GPA."

3.5 or better?

Absorutely, that's an expectation.

It's all a part of her master plan to take over the world, trust me on this one.

This girl has goals, and I've yet to see her fail to achieve what she set out to do.

As for XM, she loves it, and making her happy has always been a goal of mine.

It stays for now, unless or until she wrecks another car.

If that happens again, she'll be shit out of luck and thumbing a ride back home on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I've had both and Sirius blows XM away. The music channels are more or less a wash as they each have similar genre channels and all that (although I like the way that Sirius' lineup is setup and named) but Sirius' original/exclusive content is light years better than XM.

The only thing that XM has over Sirius is MLB. They had NASCAR but that's moving to Sirius next season. All the other major sports are either on both (college football, hoops and NHL) or in Sirius' corner (NFL, NBA & soccer).

Howard Stern is worth the price of admission in and of himself. His show on Sirius is a 1000x better than it was on regular radio. His two channels also play Bubba The Love Sponge and Ferrall. They are also going to be broadcasting live comedy shows from top standups who are on tour.

How much does Sirius cost?

KC radio is so pathetic, I might get hooked up myself.

Same as XM = $12.95/month.

I have two subscriptions to Sirius. Add on subscriptions are $6.95/month. Although there are different pay plans (pay for two or three years upfront) that bring the per month cost down.

If she's so smart, and she reaches every goal, maybe she could make it a goal to not wrech any freaking cars. Duh.

And just think, if she cleans up her careless driving act now, in a few years she might be able to get a job driving a forklift, assuming she keeps her lineage a secret

I have xm, it's pretty good. I kind of dig the 70's genre channel. In fact the other day 'Pick up the pieces' by the average white band came on. I stripped to my underwear and danced around the house.

I have XM and love it. I enjoy the MLB stuff on there as well as the different music that is played on there that one would never hear on the radio.

When I bought my new car last August it came w/ XM already installed as well. I heard Sirius is better, but I still enjoy XM a helluva lot more than basic radio. I say give it one month and see if she likes it.

One year free Sirius came with my truck. It's been 8 months and I haven't listened to regular radio since. I will pay the monthly fee when the BrewInFreeTown gimmick runs out.

Rack commercial free music, the uncensored comedy channels, the Jay Thomas show and NFL games on Sirius.

I listen to commercial free music all the time.

It's called "compact discs."

University Of Tokyo, eh?

Don't bother springing for anything yourself, pops. Over there they give away electronics like Sirius and XM radio like they're breath mints.
