We've been wanting to do so for a bit so, Saturday, we bought 6 shares of Nvidia and 8 shares of Cabella's. Have been thinking of buying some HearUsa, too. Cheap stock in comparison to the other two. We'll see how it goes. Day one, btw, Nvidia was down .14 and Cabellas down .25. Eh. We're looking long run. Anybody else?

I think you should slow down a little bit. If you jump in all at once you could be setting yourself up for disaster.

What's Cabella's, BTW? I can't find it.

CAB is ticker symbol for Cabella's - They are a retail chain specializing in outdoors, hunting, fishing etc.
A lot like Bass Pro. Not a bad pick. I can see then pulling back to 24 then moving on up to 30.

NVDA is Nvidia. Real scary since it's a chip stock.
On the plus side it's one of the stronger chip companies beacuse of it's graphics cards for X Box, Playstation, etc.
On the downside - If the Semis tank as expected, it will go down with rest

Good points, guys. Thank you much. Mikey, we didn't want to get all in at once. A mere $400 investment to begin. Probably another 100 soon and 500 in the new year. Again, we're taking our time on this one. Long term and all, ya' know?

We're currently up to ten shares of each. Have been very happy with Nvidia as, over the course of one month, it's grown 12 percent total (and that's with a purchase of four shares at about 34 dollars per). The original buy was at around 31.80 and it's currently flirting with 37. I'm alright with that. Cabela's hasn't been quite so good. Very sluggish as yet. We're down about 6.00 overall. It spiked several weeks ago with the opening of the Omaha store. We did, however, buy at a rather awkward time (not many peeps going camping in the fall). The upcoming Christmas season will hopefully be beneficial. After that, the spring. We're going to stick it out with that one. It hasn't tanked, just hasn't grown a ton either.

I couldn't agree more. Best advice is to diversify with large mutual funds. You're not going to beat the market in the long run reading your Barrons and Wall Street Journals, and Money Magazine.
