Props to OSU. Cosgrove and D.Grixby need to die in a car fire. (Cosgrove is the D-coordinator....Grixby is the no talent CB every team's top receiver has eaten alive) He's listed at 5' 9" 170 lbs. My ass. He's more like 5' 7" and a buck fifty with a pocket full of quarters.

Everytime Okie State and Texas and USC and Kansas and etc, etc..had a 3rd and long, they throw it higher than 5' 8" off the ground and PRESTO!!!! First down!!!! Look at the nice wide receiver giving that midget a piggie back ride!!!!

Put in a fucking JUCO, true freshman, the fat fuck in the 3rd row whose 5' 11" tall......anyone!!!! I know our defensive backfield is injury depleted to the core but Goddamn!!!! You can't do any worse than Grixby. Shanle is also a marginal talent at safety who wouldn't be seeing much of the field if Dillard wasn't out for the year. Shanle's sorry ass freezes on the play action again and again and again. Grixby sucks, Shanle can't compensate, and Cosgrove is too fucking stupid to adjust his D.

And Callahan standing over there with a look on his face that says, "Well we're still in 2nd place in the AFC West and we got a shot at a wildcard birth if we lose two more." Bitch is up 16-0 grinding the football on the ground with Jackson...keeping the ball out of Okie State's talented offenses' hands and what's he do? Starts running the shotgun on 1st down knowing his O-line is getting ate up completely inept at pass-blocking against the OSU D-line. Fucking dufus.

Yea I'm melting but we're still going to win the Big 12 North!!!! (yea right....Missouri will probably bitchslap us)

i personally think (and have thought for a while) that Cosgrove is horrible.....but, i have been assured by NU fan on other boards i'm wrong.

i've seen Nebraska 4 times this year, and i don't get the Cally playcalling at all. I don't see the playcalling playing to Taylor's stregths which is a good medium range ball. and the OL is pretty bad....OSU pushed NU around in the second half on both sides of the LOS.

If Cosgrove wants to save his job he replaces Cosgrove at the end of the year. One more 3 plus loss season and Pedersen ain't got a leg to stand on when he said "We will not gravitate toward mediocrity and concede the big 12 title to Texas or Oklahoma" "We play for national championships at Nebraska"

Solich could give us these results and proved it more than once. Cosgrove has got to go and so does Norvelle the OC. Callahan needs to take ownership of his team and expect results from his coaches. Recruiting doesn't mean a damn thing if you can't use the talent properly. Cally gets one year tops and we'll see if he gives a shit at the end of the year (coaching changes) or if he and Cosgrove plan on going fishing in a couple years with all the cash they raked in while at NU.

16-0 and you change your gameplan? I thought you waited until the D adjusted and then went to play action passing now that you sucked the defense in to stop the run. Cally and Norvelle go straight to the shotgun set on 1st down and look at the results. Nice

The main thing I fear if Callahan is eventually fired is watching Pedersen turn Nebraska into a national laughingstock with another publicly humiliating botched coaching search.

I can just see him sending the private jet up to Buffalo for Turner Gill and getting turned down. "Well, technically, no job offer had been made." Dumbass.

Solich, Pellini, Cotton, etc have got to be laughing right now. It does make me wonder what might have been had they been given a couple of more years. I don't think they could have done much worse. The only thing Cally accomplished to date is a couple of good recruiting classes and a win over Michigan in a mediocre bowl.

I was really pulling for Bo at the time. It would have been cool to see Nebraska's post-Osborne identity be a program that is known for great defense. Pedersen's treatment of the in-house guys during that "process" told me pretty much all I needed to know about him.

Me, too. After Pellini coached the team to the bowl win over Mich. State, you could tell he REALLY wanted to be the coach and all the players wanted him, too. I was dissapointed and felt bad for him when Pedersen turned his back on him.

There was a lot of blame to be spread around in this game. Cosgrove is just one piece of this mangled puzzle. He does this all the time. He calls one great game and then the next one is shit. You couldn't have asked for a better game plan to defend Texas last week from him and then this is what he gives us this week.

But like I said, there are some glaring weaknesses that STILL (in year 3) needs to be addressed.
  • No kickoff guy that can sail it through the endzone has really burned NU in the last two games. Every other team seems to have one.
Lack of a great line coach. Some of our guys couldn't buy Zac time if their lives depended on it today.
Lack of any play makers at DB. The coaches dropped the ball on this and should have been in recruiting two years ago, not last year.
Lack of great linemen. WTF? Can't we get any good linemen like we used to? Look to the coaching for why they haven't improved.
Lack of explosive depth at LB. Again, we should have seen this coming.
Lots of receivers dropped balls today. They played like they were scared to get hit.
Zac forced a lot of stuff today. He is limited in his range and tried to play out of it. Not smart.
Oh yeah, we were shredding OSU's d on the first two drives with B Jax's running. Why the fuck go away from it?
Next year will be the telling year.
They get Zac Bowman back (DB). They get Dillard (LB) back. Most importantly, Sam Keller comes in with a gun for an arm. If Callahan can't compete for the Big 12 title with this guy, he never will.

I really felt going in that this was the telling year. I might be willing to forestall that opinion if we were getting Keller as an incoming freshman, but he will be a fifth year senior. If, as a fanbase, we are pointing to a one and done transfer as the piece of the puzzle that is going to get us over the hump, I would posit that we are fucked. There are alot of things that are not working - I don't know if two or three players is the answer.

The play of the O line is the big one with me. The standard fan response that I have seen is "Well, we can excuse Wagner for poor line play because there is not alot of talent there". Uh, fuck that. Zac Taylor gets his ass kicked on a weekly basis thanks to Wagner's crew. Do you see some of the hits he takes? We might as well still run the I power option shit for all the "protection" we give the QB. So there's the lack of coaching. Now, the talent leve issue. For years Nebraska had walkons at OL that were better than these guys. I know that blocking in the old offense and pass pro in the new offense are different animals and that this requires better players, but fuck. This is year three of the Callahan experiment - and big part of which is predicated on his ability to recruit - and the bottom line is that the talent isn't being brought in or the coaching isn't developing the talent that is there or both. But it doesn't show any signs of getting better.

To be perfectly honest, it is starting to look like Texas was our season. I don't have enough faith in Callahan as a motivator to believe he can keep the guys from giving up on this season. Mizzou/A&M/Colorado to go. I hate to say it, but 0-5 to finish the season is possible. Especially if the Mizzou game goes wrong - and it very well could. I'm sure they taste blood in the water.

Callahan, Cosgrove and Pederson just placed a bullseye squarely on there chest this afternoon.
That team was not ready to play on defense and Callahan had to be either the most arrogant basturd or down right stupid or both to go away from B-Jax in the 3rd quarter running the ball.
I was screaming at the TV!
So you feel compelled to play a guy that is cold (Lucky) and maybe playing at a level half that of a guy that gained 99 yards in a quarter and a half.
Plus you're passing the freekin' ball on 1st down when you average nearly 8 yards a pop in the first quarter on the ground!
Callahan sticks with Jackson, the OK St. "D" gets gassed in the 4th qtr, and the game is so different.
Callahan played right into OK ST's defense the second half and Cosgrove plays his boy Rudd and we get torched.
That white boy is not only slow, he's soft as Charmin yet there he is. (Oh... he's a legacy.)
Herian is shit yet Callahan feels he needs to trot his ass on the field. Can't (won't) block a soul but that guy is still out there.
The O-line is a disaster. I've said it all alone. When a cripple is your left guard you know you got problems.
Then Christensen comes in and the tackle has him 2 yards in the backfield before Taylor can blink.
Slason can kiss a fat girl's ass...and probably does. That dude gets beat like a dirty rug.
Nothing special about our special teams. Thanks Busch.
Callahan will fire Busch, mark it...to bad he doesn't have the nads to do the same to his buddy Cosgrove.
Fuck it!
If (when) Mizzou comes in here, and Pinkle wins, the peverbial shit will hit the fan!
Call it the "No Spin Zone."
Good luck Callahan. With your boy Cosgrove trying to stop the spread, well.. we have a pretty good idea how that works.
Oh wait, it doesn't.
2 steps up... 4 back.

I thought this year would be a telling year and it is, but it's pretty sad when every sports writer I've heard on the radio outside of Nebraska talks about NU being a top 10 team pre-season and competing for the Big 12 title with Keller here.

I love Zac Taylor. The guy has got a ton of heart, but he's getting killed in some games because his line doesn't give him time and then he forces things, which leads to a lot of overthrown/underthrown balls. A perfect example of this was the KU game. He got rattled and he was missing guys all over the place.

I've seen Keller play. He's a lot quicker on his release and has a much better arm. I'm only saying that if a guy with that much talent can't run Callahan's offense with it's eight word names, no one will.

I honestly thought we were past this type of performance.

OSU dominated the last three quarters on us. Jackson was kicking-ass. Why not leave him in and keep hammering? Way to pull a Pinkel and out-think yourself BC.

Our db-coaching is a disgrace. Elmassian has to go. Coz didn't thrill me either. Our db's shouldn't have to make some many tackles. Where was the linebacking-corps that is supposed to be one of the nation's best?

Shit, well at least Miami and USC lost.
