Top Rookie So Far

Post by See You Next Wednesday »

So on the Dan Patrick show a couple of days ago they asked some dude from the Pats who the top rookie this season is. He dutifully said Laurence Maroney. Patrick countered, half-heartedly, with Reggie Bush. Patrick was on the right track, the best rookie does play for the Saints. This guy...

He's the best Offensive rookie.

The best defensive rookie is DeMeco Ryans - Texans.

He's a very good LB already.

Hello?

Tamba Hali ring a bell?

At least he's not playing for a team considering how to fuck up their next top 5 draft pick.

Hello yourself. Look, I'm no Texan fan but I have had to endure most of their games and weekly analysis whilst living in the Houston market.

Ryans has 50 tackles, 13 assists, and 1.5 sacks. He's already the defensive leader for his team.
Its an individual award, not a team award.

Hali has 19 tackles, 9 assists, and 3.5 sacks.

I haven't seen Hali that much this year. My guess is he has not had the impact that Ryans has had. Pick who you want. Its not as clear cut as your asinine comments make it out to be.

Beat me to it, Neck.

The numbers arent close. Not like actual facts have ever stopped Whitey from making a complete idiot of himself before. Excellent job once again, dumbfuck.

Bottom line: Hali doesnt belong in the conversation at this point in time.

Cool....I get to kill two birds with one stone here.

After looking up both players' stat lines, seems to me that MN left out the THREE FORCED FUMBLES that Tamba Hali has managed to do so far. And NOPE, absolutely NO FFs for your boy Ryans.

The REAL bottom line: arguments can be made for BOTH players to be potential ROY candidates, but Tamba Hali ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY belongs in the conversation.

Eat a dick, Lames.
It seems that I owe you a chocodile shot en route to you eating yourself into a coma, you fat slut.

How unfortunate.

Good call.

Hali isnt the leader that Ryans is for his defense. That is not up for fucking debate.

Can't argue with the Ryan's pick...leading all defensive rookies in tackles. Gotta give a little love to a Lions' first round pick that wasn't a total flop...just behind Ryans in tackles.

I think Colston is the logical choice right now since none of the running backs have really seperated themselves from the pack...Addai, Maroney and Washington have similar stats up to this point.

Since Colston has 6 TDs with almost 600 yards receiving.. I won't argue that..

and I concur with Ryans as the defensive rookie standout.

KCP,

Hali isnt even the best rookie DE so far this year. Mark Anderson of the Bears has 7.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles to date.

You can keep Hali in the conversation all you want. But to date, he aint the one. Sorry. 9 games left to go though...

Colston comes another step closer to locking the award up with an 11 catch, 123 yards, 1 TD effort today. There is no other rookie making the same impact he is making. Bush might make one or two highlight reel plays but Colston is clearly having the better season. Even though he comes from that football 'hot bed' known as Hofstra, give the guy the credit he deserves. He's not the household name or the former big name college star, he's only been the best offensive rookie this year...nobody can possibly make an argument for another guy right now.

I guess we can lay this baby to rest now.

Sin,
DeMeco "Defensive POTW" Ryans

Colston had it. Too bad he got hurt. Maybe he can make a run in the last few games but who knows if he'll be healthy....

Kind of funny to think that if the Texans would be boasting the defensive rookie of the year and his name wasn't Mario Williams. Great numbers for Ryans...hard to argue with him as being the favorite with a few weeks to go. Another rookie out of Alabama, Mark Anderson with the Bears, is having a strong year as well...8 sacks as a non-starter.

Anderson is probably going to have to have a bigger role on the Bears now that Tommy Harris is done for the rest of the season...

By the end of the year the only logical choice will be Vince Young. He is getting better and better with every game. He has more rushing yards than Reggie Bush and has already set two NFL records.

you mean this guy?

I think the fact that he continues plays long after the whistle sounds should probably disqualify him.......
