Devastating

That is the only word I can use to describe the effect of today's debacle in the Metrodome on the Hoosier football program. After winning 3 of their last 4 (the only loss to #1 tO$U which is expected) the Hoosiers were on the verge of a bowl bid for the first time in 13 years and had actually begun to build some genuine excitement about the "other" sport in Bloomington. Well falling behind 35-0 on route to a 63-26 drubbing to a 0 conference win team is not the way to build on that momentum, especially since THE sport in B-town tips off tomorrow in their first exhibition game. Hello football as an afterthought.
Now the #2 team in the land Michigan rolls into town. Forget that scUM has let NW and BSU hang with them, the Wolvs are simply on cruise control heading into THE game with tO$U. On the bright side that might bode well for IU to keep the score respectable but the reality is another L awaits next week. That puts all the bowl marbles on the Old Oaken Bucket game on the road. Certainly shaping up for a loss there.
So IU now sits poised to lose 3 in a row to end the year and once again miss out on bowl season, which not only means missed opportunities for more exposure for the program but reduced practice/playing time for a very young team.
Devastating.
