I don't want to argue politics with any one on this board, I post here to talk football. But, when it comes to ELECTION DAY, it is so important that we participate in the process. Don't forget to get off your ass and cast your ballot, because it matters, it honestly matters.

Heh. There is an initiative on the ballot here in AZ called the "AZ Voter Reward Act." It would create a "voter lottery," giving everyone who votes a shot at a $1 million jackpot funded by unclaimed lottery winnings. I think I'm actually gonna vote for it. It's funny how horrified people are of "uninformed voters."

I'll go vote after work...I'm hoping to maintain my perfect record of always voting for the losing candidate.

Admittedly, I didn't vote last year...there wasn't a lot of major things on the ballot and I was still settling stuff at my new house. I never miss the presidential and midterm elections. I even vote in the primary elections as well. As WolverineSteve said, your complaints about politics ring hollow if you don't vote. Voting doesn't make you more knowledgeable but you're at least doing society a favor by getting off your ass and excercising your right as an American.

Got a chuckle when I had to vote for the County Mosquito Controller who had the nickname "Skeeter".

I went..twice. Went to the place I'm SUPPOSED to vote at and they did not process my change of address 2 years ago. They still had me living at my in-laws house from when I moved to Indiana from Dallas 2.5 years ago so I had to go to another place and stand in line in the rain w/o and umbrella.

Got my vote in after an hour of waiting. Straight ticket GOP...and probably all for naught in Indiana.

in. voting in Boulder County is a chore.....every year there's about 8 zillion local amendments/referenda on the ballot.

From the time I arrived, voted, left, and got back into my car, it took all of about ten minutes.

That was fairly epic.

I just walked down to the polling station and voted. I walked up to the desk, and the same woman that hands me my ballot every election greeted me by name. I used the electronic thingamajig for the first time, and found it to be well-conceived and user-friendly.

I just walked in gave them my address, then stood in line for 20 minutes. I voted against the referendum that would invalidate Cicero and Tiberious’ civil union.

If anything, it took me less time than that. No line at all. The most time-consuming part for me was checking the ballot when I was done (I always do that to make sure I didn't make a mistake).

So did I. I just signed my name in the blank and they checked it against my signature that was on file from when I registered to vote.

Btw, New York still uses those lever machines that are relics from the 19th century. But there haven't been any significant controversies over election results here. If it ain't broke . . .

I voted YES to a prop for a $20,000,000 state bond to benefit Gulf War Vets.

i showed ID, but the college kid in front of me showed his University ID...and they took it. seemed kind of odd to me.

When I was in college, I voted absentee (of course, I attended college in a different state from where I lived). If college kids have to show ID, they may run into a tough time voting. Most of them still have their parents' addresses on their driver's license, but they might not live there while attending school.

I just skipped over all that shit. I just voted on the stuff I at least had half a clue about. I read up on all the referendums last night, but I just didn't have time to read up on 50 fucking judges.

I voted along party lines when I could, but a few races didn't have a Libertarian candidate to throw away my vote on, so I just went with the Dems in those.

When that happens, in New York you have to notify DMV of your new address, they give you a form that sticks to the back of your license, and you write your new address on that form.

The bigger problem I see with requiring use of a driver's license to vote is Constitutional. Once you do that, you've created a poll tax unless the state is giving them out to everyone for free.

Pretty sure that you can get an ID card for free from the DMV.

Not in New York, I don't think. And if you want to drive, you definitely can't. Driver's licenses cost money, and you can't legally have both a driver's license and a non-driver ID.

mike rogers pulled that shit in MI in 2000 by sponsoring the bill that required voter addresses to be the same as the ones on the DL. it didn't really bother me because i wanted to vote in kzoo at the time because i lived there and my address was my kzoo address. but i could see how out of state might be a problem.

p.s. the only time i've ever NOT voted absentee was in 04. after spending 2 hrs at the polling place waiting to vote (thankfully on company time, but i did have a story on deadline a half hour after i got back). i promised myself i'd always vote absentee after that.

No computer touch screens, just a stylus and a ballot with numbers and a flip book.
