...and then shove the ridiculously absurd tax increase they were trying to impose on a vulnerable group of people straight up their ASS.
Fuck them for trying to legislate their morality and hypocrisy, as if they really gave a shit about smokers health problems in the first place. They didn't, and they don't. They're only interested in extorting $$$ and 'punishing' those whom have a habit they find repulsive.
I blow smoke in their faces right now.
Rack Missouri voters for seeing thru the charade.
-------------------------------------------------------
Cigarette taxes
With 63 percent of precincts reporting, Missourians were rejecting Amendment 3, which would have raised the state’s cigarette tax 80 cents a pack and tripled taxes on other tobacco products. The vote was 45.9 percent in favor to 54.1 percent against late Tuesday night, or more than a 100,000-vote margin against the tax. A 55-cent cigarette tax increase failed in 2002.
The measure, effective Jan. 1, would raise an estimated $351 million annually. Most of the money would go to Medicaid and other health-care programs; less than one-fifth would go to anti-smoking efforts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
They sure had a great plan, eh? A measure that would've raised the tax by 55 cents a pack failed just four years ago, so they then come back with an 80 cent tax?
Yeah, that's going to work.

Tar it up tard. I hope you smoke yourself into an early death, breathe smoke in your house, fart smoke, and give second hand smoke damage to your inbred familia.

the increased healthcare cost arguement the antismoke nazis bring up is ridiculous. You wanna know who raises healthcare costs? It's fukkers who live 30 years past retirement age, sucking away at the social security and medicare troughs. A fella that works all his life with a lucky strike hanging out of his maw only to be diagnosed with advanced lung cancer at 63 and die 3 months later is actually a good thing for us taxpayers. This contry is gonna need plenty more like him to keep SS solvent a few extra years.

The still lingering stench of the rotting corpse of that escaped dog probably prevents that. And it's pretty fucking hot in that cigar box with no swamp cooler or AC... I imagine his old lady's snatch get's to reeking pretty bad in the heat... so he would have to smoke to cover that smell.

Wait a minute. I thought Professor Dinsdale taught us that smoking seldom causes lung cancer?
Posted: Thu Nov 09, 2006 2:59 pm
by Dinsdale
Uhm...no.
I said...CORRECTLY, I might add....that there isn't one scrap of credible evidence that shows where secondhand smoke poses any increased risk of lung cancer(or any other ailment for that matter).
Actually, some of the more comprehensive statistical evaluations of the subject show that children exposed to secondhand smoke are less likely to contract certain respiratory ailments.
BUT...those weren't scientific studies, either. Their compilations of stats were just a little more honest that the nanny-staters'.
But, don't get me wrong -- the "statistics" that people like to run out in their anti-smoking propaganda are absolute, complete bullshit. But hey, at least people want to base government policies on absolute lies.
Just remember...the MAJORITY of non-smokers will die from a "smoking related illness."
With all the complete horseshit the nanny-state liberals like to spout to support the notion that they're superior beings, I'm suprised that they don't list drownings and car accidents as "smoking related illnesses." That would put the "statistics" even more in the favor of those who hate America.

Down to only smoking while drinking. Nicotine gum is my friend.
BTW: Here's a way to make nicotine gum taste really good. Chew one stick of regular sugarfree gum with one piece of mint nicotine gum. It's like chew that actualy tastes good.

It's got nothing to do with liking smoking. I think it's a sick disgusting habit, myself, but, I don't think I have the right to penalize those that do with excessive taxation. The euros, while liberal in many ways seem to get this. They also manage to keep their parasite trial lawyers on a short leash unlike their american lib counterparts.

Exactly.
Hey, I've got an idea -- we should implement a "Lawyer Tax."
Because goodness fucking knows, those fucking asshole cause more health problems in this country due to increased stress than a hundred tobacco companies ever could.
No, really -- I have some "scientific studies" that back up this claim.
Al well and good until they come for you, eh?
Here's a novel fucking idea -- why doesn't everyone just pay their fair share, instead of trying to use a voting booth to freeload off others?
Nah...not the American way (anymore).
Raise the beer tax.
Raise the cigarette tax.
Put a tax on doughnuts.
Put a major tax on fast food.
Hey...I've got a sure-fire revenue generator -- we should tax the fuck out of insulin. What the hell, it's not like I'm diabetic, and it would ease some of MY tax burden...

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
Obviously, most Missouri voters agreed with that sentiment, and for that I am very grateful.
Damn, but I was expecting this Amendment to pass easily, as smokers and smoking are under attack in every little town and burg. Seems everyday where the news is telling how smoking is now banned in all public places.
But yet, the duplicitous bitches know how much money is generated through taxing tobacco, and aren't about to just ban sales altogether. They know how much cash smokers contribute to the public trough, and wouldn't dream of doing that. They depend on that money for other purposes, and smoker education and health care isn't on that list.
Hypocrits!
It's like hey, we've already got you bent over a barrel, so let's see how far you can take it up the ass before you eventually break.

Personally, I think it's more about being stupid, than weak, but, last time I checked, neither was illegal.
The biggest problem I have with this shit is it's just another example of good old chucky darwin being taken out of the game. It ain't like we got hyenas running free anymore to trim the herd down to a manageable size. We need smokers. And while we're at it, lets bring back lawn darts.
