For about three quarters. Then, he'll stub his toe and limp off the field like a 12 year old girl, if, oh, say...every other freaking game this season is any indication(double-GRRRRRRR).
If Johnny Franchise wants to make that next step to Heisman hopeful and early NFL pick, he's going to have to get over his severe case of pussyitis. I HATE saying that about the guy who is probably my favorite CFB player, but facts is facts. Sure, his backup is almost as badass as he is, but it's up to the starter to suck it up and play through the minor booboos without "WHAAA, I broke a nail, I need to sit the rest of the game out, coach." If this happens, look for Jerimiah Johnson to awe the crowd by throwing some of his superlative stiffarm up in some grilles if anyone tries to throw down a sissy-tackle. He's highlight-reeled a few of those this season. Just about knocked a dude out with one to the face against
Stanford .
I'll give the QB edge to Oregon. I'll give the edge at DLine to USC, and probably at LB too. In the secondary, neither team has much to brag about. Both OLines are very solid. I'll call the WR's a draw(Jaison Williams is an underrated BADASS, and if he's doubled, there's plenty of other badasses to throw to), and Jarrett and Smith...forgettaboutit...simply awesome. And if USC overcompensates for the long ball, look for Donte Rosario(sup Beaverton homie) to do some damage from the TE position(sup Sooners). Talk about a guy who got screwed by the change in offense -- but I'm guessing Donte will find his way to the NFL anyway...awfully athletic for a such a big, strong guy. But with the West Coast Spread Option in place, Oregon isn't going to continue to be the Tight End Factory it has been over the last several years(there was a long stretch where essentially every Oregon starting TE was NFL-bound...then again, all but a couple of the QBs were, too). Recently, Bellotti said they HAD to change offense, since about half the teams in the PAC had someone on the coaching staff who had worked for Oregon on offense, and every PAC team just got to know it way too well. Of course, in my U&L "dream scenario," as much as I like Crowton as OC, I'd love to see June Jones come back to his "other home" and bring the Run-and Shoot to Oregon...that would be some fun shit(Hawaii is rocking the party these days-btw). Bring in Mouse Davis as the unofficail "offensive consultant" like Junebug has at Hawaii, and then we're playing
true Northwest-style football(Sunset High School style, BABY!)...don't get me wrong, that's not going to happen or anything, but it sounds cool on paper.
Make your time, Trojans. You have about 8 more hours to dream about that championship.
Nah....Dins won't be screaming his lungs out at a television at that time or anything....nahhhhh
If only Cal could drop some conference games, we're set. But as much as this board(and the rest of the country) is making fun of them(rightfully so), Kal is playing
very well since their opening day thumping. But it's going to be quite a few years more before that whiney Kal meltdown about what they "deserved" a coupla years back is going to fade....that was some pathetic crap.
