I don't see the point of the rankings now...it comes down to just a few game dictating the whole thing.

What I know:
-3 major games will determine who will play in the Shamorama Bowl (BSC title game)
-Michigan and Ohio State won't be eliminated with a loss Saturday
-Notre Dame and Arkansas should be rooting for losses to Ohio State and USC respectively for them to get in the title chase
-Teams that are pretty much screwed even if they win out: Rutgers, Boise State, Wake Forest
-One loss teams that have no influence on the matter: Wisconsin, West Virginia (even if they beat Rutgers), Louisville
-Anyone with two losses should just be playing out the string but could still be spoilers (ie--California-USC, LSU-Arkansas)

After yesterday or "Elimination Saturday", there are only 6 teams left fighting for two spots...Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, Florida, Arkansas. You can eliminate the losers from the USC-Notre Dame and Florida-Arkansas games but as I said, I don't think either Michigan or Ohio State is eliminated with a loss to each other on Saturday thus still keeping the possibility alive for a rematch if the numbers fall the right way.

No, they're not definitive to me. I used them only to refute your argument that my failure to include Oklahoma in the Top 15 was some sort of huge oversight.

My favorite comment over the weekend was when Mark May said that WVU was the best one loss team in the country. When Davis asked him about Louisville, he said that it was WVU and we didn't get to see how good WVU really is because they turned the ball over so much. His quote, "I mean, they had 3 fumbles!"

The game hasn't happened yet, these polls are supposed to based on what has happened up to this point...not forecast the next few weeks. I see you working though...Rutgers will have a tough game in Morgantown to keep their slight Shamorama Bowl hopes still alive. Who's to say the results from the last two big games in the Big East wouldn't be different if they were played in the other team's stadium...the bottom line is the results speak for themselves right now and to me, Rutgers is the best team in the Big East because no one has beaten them.

Shoalzie, the last line of my post said Rutgers is the #1 in the Big East right now. There is no disputing that fact. I probably watch more Big East games than most, so I have seen enough of both teams to this point. Rutgers is good, but I feel WVU is better.

WVU seems, to me, to have faster and more talented players than Rutgers.

But Rutgers seems to be the better all-around football team.

We'll see which one prevails.

It will be tough for Rutgers to win at Morgantown. If they do, their case for the BCS will greatly strengthen.

WVU's defense is poor. Their offense is good, although they've suffered from the injury bug. Rutgers has no passing game, but their running game and their defense are very good. It seems to me that they have a chance, but on the road, under so much pressure...it's going to be tough. Currently WVU is #8 in the BCS, if that hold up for the matchup, and Rutgers can win, that will be a positive for them.

Arkansas has wins against Tennessee and Auburn. Rutgers beat Louisville. Their lone loss came to Michigan, same as Wisconsin. Don't get me wrong, they are a very good team, top 10, but how can anyone have them in the top 5?

Just my thoughts:

• Their only loss is to Michigan.
• Their seven-game win streak is tied for second-longest in the country among one-loss teams, behind only Arkansas (nine games) and tied with Wisconsin.
• They benefitted greatly from last week. They were ranked #9 last week and moved up when Louisville, Texas, Auburn and Cal (all ranked ahead of ND last week) lost. They didn't leapfrog anyone who won last week, nor did anyone leapfrog them.

I've said several times before, preseason rankings matter, apparently. Arkansas and Rutgers have been ranked below ND all season. Arkansas and Rutgers both had impressive wins last week, but both moved up significantly as a result of the higher-ranked teams losing.
