Knight does it again!

It's time a parent or fan comes down on the court and beats the shit outta this fucker!

Bobby whacks his kid/kids in the face again.

I guess if it's cool to hit some kid you "teach" across the head and not go to jail... you should expect the same.

If I had a kid, and some asshole(Bobby Knight) hit my kid in the face... he(Bobby Knight) would be walking out into the Lubbock night in a wheelchair!

Ok, I've always had the urge to take a baseball bat to the fuckers head... but, I still think I made my point coherently.

For crying out loud, yesterday's "hit" was a non-event. I think most people on this board know that I have no love whatsoever for BK. But that was nothing and nothing should be made of it.

I have more to say about it, but I don't have the inclination to get into it right now.

I am intrigued by the prospect of someone walking while in a wheel chair.

I heard people talk about this for about 3 hours today.. roughly 2 hours and 58 minutes more than it merited. They talked like he went Tyson on the kid.. I see the video.. and, Cripes, I'll be hit harder than that fighting crowds at Xmas shopping time. It's only a story because it's Knight. ENOUGH ALREADY! :deadhorse:

No doubt that BK deserves a rack. Parents should be watching every game he coaches. While he's coaching kids on the court he's giving freebie lessons to parents who have 10 year olds smoking pot, binge drinking and failing elementary school. Whoop their ass a bit and make them accountable.

My morning shit takes more out of me than that slap took out of the kid.

Non-story.

I'm stunned.

To think you can teach a "human being" behavioural repertoire? Do you really want to raise kids as monkeys?

I'm just stunned to see the "vast majority" here condone this bad behaviour.

It's a sad state of affairs.

Myself, I didn't say that I condone it.
I said it's a non-story.

He gave the kid an 'attention-getter'.

Post-game, someone in authority at TT might speak to Bobby about it, ask him not to lay hand on the players like that.
Then again, they might not.

He came nowhere near assaulting the kid.

It's no big deal.

Tart, you're missing the point.

Let's take a look at the two cultures that value violence as a means to an end.

Too make it simplistic... Blacks and Mexicans condone violent behaviour towards children.(as a way of discipline)

Who makes up 90% of the people in jail?

poptart wrote:It's no big deal.
Yeah, yeah it is.

Was that a 'violent' act ... ?

What I saw was a kid starting to look away as coach lectured him, and coach lightly tapping the kid's chin so that eye contact was re-established.

Guess we just don't see it the same way, 2.

If he hit your grandma like that... what would you do to the asshole known as BK?

Seriously? What would you have done if he hit someone you cared about?

I know what I would have done... and it would have differed from what the "tough guy" folks here would have done!
poptart wrote:What I saw was a kid starting to look away as coach lectured him, and coach lightly tapping the kid's chin so that eye contact was re-established.
Yeah, it's called feeling ashamed... and showing respect to the coach.

Then on top of that... he should be hit in the head like a monkey?

I guess I just see... every human being as having a brain... and without the need to beat them over the head to teach them a lesson.

If Bobby Knight calls a bad play... should the same adults(that go to war at Eighteen/college students) be able to cold cock him for fucking up the game??????

It's a two way street when it comes to violence Poptart.

I grew up in the "City" and if you throw down... expect the same in return.

Maybe.

2, the kid himself (and his parents) have said that the incident was no problem at all.
That ought to say it all.
This is all about the media jacking up a story that really isn't.

Long story short on B.Knight -- the best of Bob Knight is SO very good, and the worst of Bob Knight is deplorable.
We've all seen him act the ass ... act the bully, far too often.
I'm not always down with Bobby Knight.

I'm just saying that in this case, there's nothing there.

My grandma didn't sign on the dotted line to play at TT.
When a kid signs on to play for Bob Knight he knows what he's in for.
It ain't always a picnic.

isiah thomas on bobby knight and the event:

I think that, since he IS Bobby Knight, he should have known better. If he's so ignorant of the way that the world sees him, then why is he a public figure? I don't think that the "slap" itself is as big a deal as the fact that he did it at all. "Zero Tolerance," as we've seen in the past, means jack shit to this guy... How long before that hand is a closed one?
