USC-Cal: Call your shot. Trojan fans, m2, get in here...

...and all you other people too, for that matter.

Specifically, I wanna hear Meds' take on this one, before the game.

I'm guessing that turnovers will be the key here, much moreso than yards gained/time of possession/ball control stats.

Cal will get their yards and they'll get some points but I think Lynch will be somewhat removed as a key factor in this game when Cal turns the ball over a lot and falls behind big early and they're forced to abandon their running game. That always seems to be the case whenever Cal loses.

"Marshawn was killing it! 7.2 ypc! Then, Tedford just went away from him!! WHY???"

Same reason as always, m2...

You were getting killed. Can't keep running the ball when you're down big and the other team shows no sign of letting up.

USC's key ingredient during this long run of theirs has been turnover plus/minus ratio. They've led the nation in that stat over the past four years. Major ball hawks on D and they don't usually beat themselves on O. However, they really dropped off on that stat in the middle of this season and that's when they suddenly found themselves in all those unusually close games before they finally blew it completely in Corvallis.

I'm looking for them to win that battle again tomorrow, decisively, and that will provide the margin of victory AND m2's post game battle cry.

I like USC's offense to score a couple TDs on their own and I like the turnovers to provide them with another couple of scores, either directly or by giving Booty a short field.

Nate Longshore will be the difference maker in this game. He'll either turn it over a lot and provide USC with the victory or he'll play solidly and mistake free and Cal will finally avoid stepping on their dicks on the road in a big game.

I'm betting on the former. Like the season opener in Neyland this one will again prove to be too much road atmosphere and the stakes are again too high for Cal to be able to hold up under that kind of pressure. USC will play conservative, unspectacular but steady ball and Cal will make a lot of big plays and just enough bad plays...

USC: 27
Cal: 21

Enjoy that Holiday Bowl there, m2. Try not to choke on that one too.

What's their turnover ratio this year?

note: I see that it's +1. Not exactly dominant thus far...

Cool... Cal leads the Nation.

Bingo!!!

Cal leads the Nation in INT's and we have the best CB in College Football... and he leads the Nation in INT's with 8.

Meet Daymeion Hughes...

1st Team All-American... and projected as a Top 10 pick in the NFL draft.

Psst... Vannie.

Cal is +8 on the turnover ratio... and $C is +1. You need to do your homework.

m2, I didn't say USC is #1 in turnover ratio this year. I specifically said turnover ratio has been their #1 problem this year, didn't I?

I also said that you piss and moan whenever Cal loses and Lynch didn't get enough carries to make you happy. Do we need to go back to your Tennessee game posts to prove it?

The MAIN thing I said is that Cal's never played in a game of this magnitude before and whenever they've been in big road games of even a lesser degree than this one they've choked like RenFaire skanks wolfing down Court Jester cock giblets.

The MAIN thing I said is that in THIS game Cal will choke and make enough mistakes to beat themselves, while USC will play a steady, unspectacular but poised game and they won't beat themselves...and that'll be the difference.

Yeah, m2, Cal's done great in turnover ratio all season long, against overmatched foes in no-big-deal games. Let's just see how they do in this one.

You thought Neyland was bad, skippy? You thought that house was worthy of making you shit the bed again?

31 in a row, m2. 31...in...a...row. Welcome to the house of the team with the longest home winning streak in the nation...

Middle of 2001, m2, middle of 2001. That's the last time anybody went into that building and came out alive.

18-0, m2. 18-0. That's USC's record in November since Pete came into his own at USC. That's the "winning time" month, m2, when the cream rises to the top and the best teams step up and refuse to lose on their way to winning...championships.

1959, m2. 1959. The Eisenhower Era. You weren't even born yet. That's the last time Cal managed not to choke away a chance to play in The Rose Bowl.

Lotta fuggen history staring you down. Lotta fuggen history staring down your nutless band of wannabe hoodrats who've never won a big game in their entire college careers.

The object here is to find a way to win, period. Who's most likely to do it? The soft flash in the pan chokers from The Land Of Never Been There, or the team with Rose Bowls sewn deep into their very DNA?

Fuck all the stats. When push comes to shove program muscle memory will take over and all the bullshit will fall by the wayside and everybody on that field will suddenly remember who they are and where they are and who they represent and at that precise moment USC will punch Cal in their flatulent pussies and Cal will turtle when it matters most.

Just...like...always.

Oh, and m2, btw, what's your score prediction anyway?

Bwaaa!

m2, methinks as the picks roll in we'll discover that Cal still isn't that highly regarded 'round the nation.

Either that, or you aren't, and everybody just can't stomach the idea of Cal winning and m2 gloating?

I only make that pick because (even though I hate him) your QB is from Louisiana and well....m2 had given Cal about the worst rep possible.

My wife is from L.A. so if I wanna get some tomorrow night then I gots to go for USC....especially now that we got Reggie Bush!

Get it? Bush?? Snatch?? Poon tang????????

I'm looking forward to Cal vs. Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl, if only for the epic m2 vs. Brad thread that matchup would undoubtedly generate. Should be archive-worthy.

As for the game at hand this week, I see a high-scoring affair here . . .

USC 38
Cal 31

Caveat: I don't get to see much of either team, so I'm more or less flying by the seat of my pants with any prediction. I'm hoping that USC wins, though, as it would definitely benefit ND.

I think that is sufficient. What can be better than having 11 different favorite teams (opposing SuC)....

MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Lax, who's your team?

Lax has always maintained that his two favorite teams, in order, are:

1-Notre Dame
2-Whoever's playing USC

Other than maybe Stranded Texan towards OU I've never seen anybody hate college kids and a college program the way Lax hates USC. His hatred is inexorable. It's almost disturbing...

You're right though, Mgo. Lax posts anti USC things FAR more frequently than he posts pro ND things. I honestly think he'd take an ND loss in exchange for a USC loss.

I,m definitely pulling for the Aliens to drop a meagazillatonne alien bomb on the stadium, killing everyone within 100 miles.

Hopefully, they don't wait until the 4th quarter, when it's a tie game...all the SoCals will have headed for home already.

The fuck are you running your cocksucker about, Frontrunnersdale?

I simply gave my score on the game.

Did last weeks assblasting hurt as much as "your" Yankees getting coloncleansed? How about "your" 49ers? Maybe "your" Lakers? What about "your" Carolina hurricanes?

I've had the same rooting interests since I was a child. Never changed.

But if you refer to the Lakers as "mine" again, I'll hunt you down.

Here ya' go, Lax and m2 and Dins...

As m2 would say...

...here's...

..the truth.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=G4X0e9vENVg& ... ed&search=

"Tribute To Troy" following "Fanfare" flat out always gives me chills.

Cal's fight song (errr, UCLA's fight song) is the gayest fucking song ever. Circus clown music.

"Conquest", oh yes, we shall be hearing that today, with the USC players saluting the band and all of Troy with another Pac 10 championship...

m2, you douche, get your pick in already!

Not to worry, Blazer slunt-The whole "laker" thing was for a laugh-My Lakers will never be mistaken for the laughing joke of a beatdown bitch whose ballhairs are routinely coughed up by you in the NBA forum. Enjoy another losing season while we compete for the title and eggcrate your blazers with that laker ballsack along the way. Bitch.

Which title?? Certainly not the NBA Championship. The Lakers will have overachieved to even earn the title of "Best Team In L.A."

I expect the first half to be very competetive - Lynch will have a great day. The score should be fairly close in the early goings - a lot of points on the board methinks.

Despite my feelings about Kal, I think they're for real this year. The Trojans have a lot more to play for, however, and I think this will make the difference.

Shut the fuck up, Queentard.

Once the playoffs are made, anything can happen. Last years squad fell just short of making serious noise in the later rounds. Your squad.....well, they made the city's water purple.....and fucking sucked harder than a porn star per usual.

This years team, with addition of the new Toni Kukoc, will be taking names and kicking ass come playoff time. Bank on it.

Well, it's halftime and so far I've been sorta right...

USC IS forcing the turnovers. They're hitting like maniacs. They've forced three fumbles but they carelessly only recovered one of 'em. So easily they could've had all three and this game would look completely different now. JUST FALL ON THE BALL, IDIOTS!!

They also picked off a Longshore pass when Longshore was hurried into throwing up a prayer.

No USC turnovers thus far either so yep, they've forced the mistakes I thought Cal would make and they haven't turned it over themselves and that's been one of the big keys so far.

Problem is, they're making far too many mistakes of their own on offense. Too many procedure calls (in their own building???), receivers not turning around in time to avoid having passes literally hit them and that fuggen safety Cal got was a direct result of USC's twentieth string freshman FB completely brain farting on that Cal goal line stunt...

Lynch is doing okay but he's not killing us and Jackson only has one play the whole half. He almost got killed the first time he touched the ball!! LOL!!! MAN, he got blasted!!

The D is doing fine. Really, so is Cal's too. A defensive battle is what we have here!!

Nail biter time? Looks like it. This is where USC's pedigree needs to kick in, and Cal's too.

By any means possible, gentleman, by any means possible...

Van wrote:A defensive battle is what we have here!!
You're joking right? You just wrote it yourself, "USC is forcing turnovers" and holding onto the ball on their end, but their own offense is farking 'em up. Cal is doing their thing with Lynch, agreed.

Still, this is not the D's rocking the house, it's a case of O's ineptitude. I am guessing they'll remember that the PAC-1 (sp?) is about O and not D and play an exciting 2nd half...hoping.

Now are you gonna try to argue that their IS such a thing as D? Cause if you do, you know and I know that it will be the 1st time in recorded history. How many times have you said that "D is not the result of actual defense, but the lack of production from the offense." "The offenses stink (or stunk in that game), not that the defenses shut the O down". This will be interesting...
