WVU...exposed!
Lousville...exposed!!!
Rutgers...exposed!!!
All these espn honks trying to make the Big East aka the Thursday night league, into a legit title worthy league, can now please shut the fuck up!! There is no strength in the conference. None of the three teams worthy of D-1 designation can get through the pussified conference unscathed. Gimme a break!!!

I agree. None of those teams would defeat any of the likely BCS participants. I thought Rutgers might have a chance at greatness, with a solid OL/Running game and a tough defense...but they were fully exposed.

You guys have to be kidding if you don't think the Big East champ could defeat the ACC champ this year. If the ACC hasn't been exposed, the Big East certainly hasn't either.

Hey, it's a tough conference, and they end up beating each other up. It's because the BE is so badass, that's all. They should schedule weaker OOC opponents and quit playing road games to compensate.

Thanks for the tip but we're way ahead of ya'. In case anybody hadn't already noticed our best teams already quit playing tough OOC games and road games in general.

Sub in the SEC for the Big East there and then you have a truthful statement.
It's amazing how Ohio State and Michigan played a game very similar to WVU and Louisville, yet those in this forum state that Ohio State-Michigan was a great game (it certainly was) and WVU-Louisville was a game with no D? I'm sorry, but you can't have it both ways. Louisville and WVU are good teams. No, they aren't to the overall caliber of Ohio State, Michigan, USC, but they can play, and seeing as to how it seems one can pass on Ohio State, I'd love to see Louisville's offense go up against them.
While the Big East is not the Big 10 or Pac 10 this season, I'd put Louisville up against the best teams from the rest of the BCS leagues without a doubt.

Dins had already made the SEC point. My post was in response to his. I was just adding The Big East to the pile.

Athletes, Mucho, athletes. The Big East games revealed a severe lack of equal athletes on the defensive side of the ball. Michigan-Ohio St did not. Both teams there feature athletes on defense who would ALL start over the starters of any Big East team.
Difference is, the Michigan and OSU offenses are just that damn good. The WVU and Louisville offenses are just that damn good...when they play D's with no athletes.
I'm sorry, but you can't have it both ways.
Sure we can. They're great and The Big East is overrated as hell.
Louisville and WVU are good teams.
Good, yes, but they never belonged in the title game discussion. They never deserved Top 5 rankings. They...never...beat...ANYBODY!!
No, they aren't to the overall caliber of Ohio State, Michigan, USC, but they can play,
Boise St can play. Del Oro HS can play. Nobody said The Big East can't play. Nonetheless, Louisville and WVU have both sported BCS rankings this year that at various points were higher than some far better teams. That's the point.
and seeing as to how it seems one can pass on Ohio State, I'd love to see Louisville's offense go up against them.
OSU wouldn't even need to suit up their punter if they played Louisville's defense. Louisville would be playing from so far behind all game that Brohm would get pummeled into the turf on the way to passing for 400 yards and five picks, with three fumbles. The final score would be Louisville-14, Ohio St-Whatever Mood Tressell Was In
While the Big East is not the Big 10 or Pac 10 this season, I'd put Louisville up against the best teams from the rest of the BCS leagues without a doubt.
SEC too? A one loss Arkansas or Florida vs...Louisville? Hey, you MAY get your wish. Be careful there, sport. m2 got his wish too...

Yes Van, against any of the Conferences and I hope I do get my wish. There is also the possibility that WVU could get an at large and get the chance to play ones of those teams as well.

If as expected WVU beats Rutgers to give Lousiville the Big East, man, watch out.
If Louisville has to play either a one loss Arkansas or a one loss Florida I wouldn't look forward to good things happening for Louisville in The Superdome.
Watching how WVU's rushing attack gouged Louisville's rush defense, woo, I can only imagine what Arkansas would do to Louisville.
The Big East's best bet is the emotional one. If a one loss Florida or Arkansas get stuck playing a blah Louisville team after getting shafted out of a shot at the title game (which is undoubtedly how any one loss SEC winner would feel this season), well, yep, the possibility of an enormous emotional let down definitely exists there. Meanwhile, Louisville would again come charging in as The Big Least winner with a huge chip on their shoulder and something to prove.
That's your one potential saving grace. Mgo will hate this comment since I'll never get to prove it on the field but I firmly believe that if you made such a Sugar Bowl the national title game rather than a dismal consolation bowl for the SEC winner, well, hey, Louisville would get destroyed.
A better barometer would be if a one loss ND gets into the Sugar Bowl against a one loss SEC winner. That match up, yeah, the real Arkansas or Florida would show up with their ears pinned, rarin' to go...

If those teams go into a BCS game unmotivated because of who they are playing, then they honestly shouldn't be there in the first place.

I totally agree. There was much whining in the PSU fanbase about matching up with a 4 loss FSU team last year. People wondered if our players "could" get up to play the Seminoles. I knew the game would be tough, and it was.

Oh dude -- I despise the SEC with all of my soul, but I'm just sitting here trying to picture what them gumbo-eatin rednecks would do to the scrawny little shits from Cousin Fucking U. Would Arkansas or Florida even make a pass attempt. It would be like watching Nebraska's old-school power-I against a high school girls team.
Just call it the Inbred Bowl, let the SEC humiliate them, and then maybe the Pop Warner Conference will shut up and go away.

That looks nice on a coach's chalkboard or in a hallmark card but it doesn't change reality...
Motivation matters, especially when you're talking college kids, not highly paid pros.
If you're a one loss Florida and you get stuck playing Louisville in a consolation bowl for a program paycheck rather than getting to play Ohio St for all the fame and glory of a national title then yeah, your motivation will be much more difficult to manufacture.
Conference paychecks aside, only the Big East team really gives a rip about winning the Sugar Bowl in an SEC-Big East consolation bowl match up. The Big East team is playing with something to prove while the SEC team has everything to lose and nothing to gain. That's a shitty motivational recipe, definitely, but it's one that absolutely favors the underdog so at least it's likely to produce a closer game...

Again, if you're going in there with that mentality, then you shouldn't be there. No matter who you're lining up against, you should want to go out there and kick the crap out of them.
I also find it hard to believe that Georgia was unmotivated in last years Sugar Bowl. They had what ended being a virtual home game and they were beaten. If they had no desire to be there, then they wouldn't have come back the way they did being down 28-0.

Exactly. We SHOULDN'T be there! We DON'T WANNA BE THERE!
Sincerely,
One Loss Florida
Also, last I checked New Orleans is in Louisiana, which really isn't all THAT close to Athens, Ga. It's three states over. In fact, New Orleans, La is about as FAR as Georgia EVER travels for ANY game so no, it wasn't a "virtual home game" for Georgia.
LSU playing OU in the BCS title game, in the Louisiana Superdome, now that was a virtual home game for the SEC team.

I don't think news of last year's Sugar Bowl has made it out west yet, Mucho. USC/WVU would be interesting.

FYI, last years Sugar Bowl was played in Atlanta.

Was it??
Ahhh, shit! My bad!
Dammit, I hate this new math! I hate the BCS!!
When the fuck did they move the Sugar Bowl from one dome to another???
Okay then, let's see what ELSE I missed down there...
Is the SEC CCG still played in the Georgia Dome, or has that one been moved too? Or, is it in a different locale every year?
Man, I really did not know that about the Sugar Bowl. Wild stuff, man, wild!
(edit...
~sudden and belated recognition dawns on Spaceman Spiff, our not so intrepid hero...~
DOH!!!!!!!!!!! Think about it, you idiot! What happened last year that was just slightly DIFFERENT, Captain Observant?? Uhhh...Katrina, you dumbass!!! You were JUST there too!!)
Yeeash!!!

The Sugar Bowl was in Atlanta dude to Hurricane Katrina making the Super Dome unfit to play the game.
The SEC Championship is still in Atlanta.

Yeah, I eventually figured that one out all by my lonesome...
Man! LOL!!
Anyway, is the Sugar Bowl back home in the Superdome this year or are they just leaving it in Atlanta?
