shame

with nothing from the qb position, arkansas almost beats LSU.

Arkansas is going to be one hell of a tema next year, their rb's come back, another year for mustain, and i believe they keep most of their o-line intact, and they are starting to build a nice recruiting class.

No shit. That was a horrible excuse for a two minute drill. Florida should stomp their asses in the SEC championship game.

Geaux Tigers! Hopefully they can pull a deece opponent in a BCS bowl game.

Congrats, LSU.

Man, if only Arkansas had a QB...at all.

Wtf happened to Mustain, who was supposed to be the difference maker? Dick?

He is what he eats.

Any chance of them going to the Rose Bowl?

Yes, if either Michigan or USC plays in the BCS championship game, the other Rose Bowl slot should go to either LSU, West Virginia or Florida (only if Florida loses to Arkansas).

If Florida plays in the BCS championship game, LSU vs. Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl appears to be a lock.

LSU vs ND sounds like a nice match-up. Congrats to LSU on another good season. It will be interesting to see if anyone offers Bo a significant HC-job.

Ummm, like I just explained in the other thread, what if Arkansas beats Florida and ND beats USC?

Your Rose Bowl match up would almost certainly then be USC vs...ND!!

What, is the Rose Bowl going to pass up a one loss and highly glamorous ND team in favor of a two loss LSU team who didn't even win their own conference? I don't think so.

Hell, even if Florida beats Arkansas that might not affect ND anyway because Michigan could still beat out a one loss Florida. At that point Florida's still playing in the Sugar and ND is still the most attractive available opponent for USC in the Rose...

So, basically, if ND beats USC they're going to the Rose Bowl for a rematch against USC. The only way that doesn't happen now is if Florida beats out Michigan for the title game slot...

If Arkansas beats Florida and ND beats USC . . .

You obviously have Ohio State vs. Michigan in the national championship game.

I don't see ND-USC in the Rose Bowl, however. ND might be the most attractive team from the Rose Bowl's perspective, in a vacuum anyway, but ND-USC is nowhere near the most attractive matchup available to the Rose Bowl. In that case, the Rose Bowl probably selects either LSU, Florida or West Virginia, all of whom will be ranked below ND, but none of whom would have played USC during this season. Therein lies the difference.

Now, if you wanted to tweak the fact pattern slightly for the purpose of playing hypotheticals, and made Cal the Pac-10 champion instead of USC, then by all means, you would be seeing ND-Cal in the Rose Bowl. But that's not the situation we have.

Thing is, you see that difference as being significant enough to sway the descision against ND. I don't, and I doubt the Rose Bowl selection committee would either.

ND is too big of a west coast draw.

WVU or Louisville? Either team fairly well defines "WGARA" out here. The object here is to get USC's opponent's fans to travel and fill the Rose Bowl and it's also to draw tv ratings. So, lessee here...USC vs Louisville or USC vs...#3 ND? Besides the fact that ND would accomplish both things much better they'd also be the far more deserving team.

Win-win there, for the Rose Bowl committee. Nobody could fault them for taking the #3 ranked team in the nation, CF's most glamorous program, over a hugely overrated Big East team who beat precisely nobody all season long.

Florida? As a one loss team who simply got beaten out for #2 by Michigan, yeah, they have some appeal. Not a WHOLE lot, not out here, but some. Doesn't matter though. With one loss Florida's the SEC champ so they're either playing in the title game against OSU or they're playing in the Sugar. Let 'em lose to Arkansas and they suddenly fall below Arkansas, LSU and possibly Auburn too and they're done in terms of the BCS.

There is NO way Florida can land in the Rose Bowl. None. If Florida loses to Arkansas then LSU will be ranked higher and they'll be far more attractive to the Rose Bowl than Florida.

That'd leave only LSU. So, a two loss LSU team which didn't win their conference, a team with zero west coast ties? A team who sports The Invisible Man as their head coach? The Rose Bowl's going to choose them over #3 ND, Notre Dame, a one loss team having returned to glory under media darling Charlie Weis, with media darling Brady Quinn playing in his final collegiate game?

Are you serious? Rematch or not, USC vs that ND team is still a much bigger draw on the west coast than USC vs a two loss SEC Team who didn't win their conference, or any Big East team. LSU is the only SEC team with a shot now at the Rose Bowl and the only way they get the Rose Bowl gig is if ND loses to USC tomorrow...

Fuckin eh! I'm counting on it. The wife is always looking for excuses to go back home and this would be one of the best I could imagine. Trust me, if for some reason LSU made the Rose Bowl, they wouldn't have to worry about fans making the trip. How they act when they get there would be a whole different story....

My guess is that they play scUM or SC in the Rose.
