forgive me, i've been out of country for at least 429 tweaks to the bcs, but umich might be back to the alamo bowl this year, non? six bids for each of the bcs conferences, notre dame's bid for being in the top 113, and the last bid possibly goes to boise st. as a reward for not losing to teams like idaho, n.mex.st., and la tech. furthermore, what happens if usc and florida lose and umich is an undisputed #2? which team gets left out in that scenerio?

As long as they are 3rd in the BCS, they receive an automatic bid as an at large team.
See Automatic Qualification, para 5.

Actually, they're an automatic qualifier as long as they're Top 4, provided that the #3 team is also not an automatic qualifier for an at-large bid from a BCS conference. That wouldn't happen this year, so Michigan is as good as in.
Boise State is in with a win. ND is in with a win, (possibly) a close loss, or (all but certainly) a Boise State loss.
