Week 1 PickEm Results

Post by Shine »

A rather small turnout for this season of the pickem, people must have given up and conceded to Mook. Anyway, there were only 14 people who played in week 1. So like last year I'll offer up 4 points (1 less than the low point total of an entry) for anyone who joins in for week 2 and plays every week after.

The changes to the format provided some interesting early results. 11 of 14 correctly picked the first game in the 1 and 1 and all 11 got the second game correct. The three who missed would have earned a point on the second game had they correctly picked the first. The real interesting stuff came on the 3 point shot. Only 2 of 14 got the game correct for the added 3 points, and with the -1 penalty for incorrect picks the 3 point game proved to be the difference on who the early leaders are.

Without further ramblings...

FWIW, the home team was posted incorrectly in the 3-point game--UF/FSU.

I'm not saying it's an issue to me specifically (and i'll take my ration of accountability for not noticing it while making the pick itself), but it may have affected the way some people picked the game.

UF -12 at home is different than UF -12 on the road.

FWIW I thought the game was at UF until I turned the game on that night and saw it was at FSU. I set the line as if it were a UF home game. The line would have been more like 7 had I known.

Trust me, it was a mistake pure and simple.
