Evidently, Dennis Erickson is now ASU's coach.

This is a smart move. Dude has succeeded wherever he has gone at the college level. he was gonna leave Idaho sooner or later, it might as well have been sooner.

I thought Mike Price woulda been the better hire, but I can't see ETCU doing much better than this. I heard some of their fans wanting to snag June Jones out of Hawaii, but that guy's got a vacation job and ain't goin anywhere.

ETCU is far from a new moniker on the Sun Devils.
That school could be a giant, great facilities, great weather and ultra low admission standards
Plus the girls that go to that school are amazing, easily my fav road trip for SC every other year

SDSU could have hired Erickso but Neinas cronyism intervened...
San Diego State should have hired Dennis Erickson. However, the SDSU Athletic director retained a consultant Mr. Neinas for his football coach search.
Incidentally... it was Neinas who was responsible for getting this AD hired in the first place. This AD then hired the unproven and undeserving Chuck Long whose first hire was Neinas's son as tight ends coach.
Interesting enough... Neinas is now helping Alabama in their search.

Neinas has a pretty good track record....and is pretty highly thought of nationally.

in all fairness, ASU has 3 or 4 baseball National Championships, but those were all won after the NCAA implemented the "USC" rule and limited teams to 11 scholarships for a 25 man roster

While SDSU is a little above Idaho chances are it still ends-up as a stepping-stone once Erickson decided he wanted to be big-time again and a job like ASU came along.

are you out of your fucking mind? have you ever seen the shithole that is Moscow Idaho? San Diego is a LOT above Idaho....
ever seen where Idaho plays their home games?
it's a fucking barn......
Erickson was a terrible hire for Idaho, because everybody (except the Idaho AD) knew the guy would bolt at the first opportunity....all the while giving lip service that he planned on staying at UofI for the long haul.....
now they're crying for John L. Smith...another former coach and notorious job jumper......
insanity is repeating the same thing over and over, yet expecting a different result

Felix,
Name one coach that will ever go to Idaho as a "lifer". Idaho is a stepping stone. Always will be. No one should ever be surprised that any coach uses Idaho as anything but a springboard to the next level.

No argument from me on this, but that's not what Erickson PROMISED the UofI and the alumni.....Erickson told Rob Spears (the Idaho AD) that he had no intention of seeking another coaching position in the short term......
one year and GONE......
Erickson is an asshat and Idaho got what they deserved for hiring that mook......

I don't care what number tier you put on Idaho...as long as it is the bottom tier on your list.
The VAST majority of coaches are asshats and only care about themselves. Only those who write their own ticket can afford to be more honest than most (note I didn't say completely honest, no one is).
I don't fault Erickson one bit. He's doing what's best for him. That is the name of the game in athletics. $.

Erickson.

SDSU is more than a little better than Idaho but it is still in a lower-level conference and not a traditional winner ala BYU. It is a step-up but not enough of one. It is like Meyer going to Utah, it was better than Bowling Green but he, like Erickson, was gonna be at a solid BCS-school sooner or later.
