K.C vs. Bolts II

Post by ChargerMike »

...SOFT...SOFT you say?

Locker room fodder:

The last time the Chargers lost a football game, Chiefs defensive end Tamba Hali made a statement that didn’t set well with the Bolts, so much that the newspaper clipping remains posted on a wall in the team’s weight room nearly eight weeks later.

“After running the film we didn't think they were as physical as we faced (earlier this year),” Hali said. “The Steelers were physical. We played a physical game there. We were all banged up when we came out of there. Looking at the film, we know they (the Chargers) were a finesse team. We didn't think they were that physical a team, so we thought we could get after them.”

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson recalled those words Monday.

“What sticks out in my mind is them calling us soft last game,” Tomlinson said. “Obviously as a player, when somebody calls you soft, you don’t like it too much.”

Kansas City’s blitz-heavy scheme forced the Chargers to throw the ball a season-high 44 times in their October meeting. LT saw the Bolts’ method of attack as flexibility, not a definition of his team’s style of play.

“Finesse team or whatever you want, (but) we’re not a soft team,” Tomlinson said. “We can play any game that you want us to play. They beat us and that was our last loss, but they said we were soft. We’ll see.”

The Chargers are the only team in the NFL with at least 1,900 rushing yards and 2,800 passing yards. They rank third in the league in rushing. While they have the ability to air it out and get fancy, they also believe they can grind it out with the best of them.

“Teams like to label us a finesse offense,” quarterback Philip Rivers said. “I think we can be that, but we’re as physical as any group. Our offensive line, fullbacks and tight ends … we’ll line up and block you as we showed yesterday. If we need to spread you out and do some other fun stuff, we can do that too. We have a ton of weapons.”

As much as I'd love to drop in to this thread and run it, it just isn't there.

Maybe Duane can substitute.

Chiefs mail this one in.

Being as how there are no beaches around here, I'll probably go bowling 10 pins Sunday nite.

I can't believe this.

You guys already beat the Bolts once this season. You have a chance for a sweep, and you're going bowling? Damn, you guys get discouraged easily. Even if you don't make the postseason you could still have at least partial BODE.

Stanford went 1-11 this season. If they had beaten CAL (alas) it would have been a successful year.

I bowl in a league on Sunday night, so regardless if KC was 10-3 and the Blots were 9-4, I'd be bowling. Great therapy taking out my frustration after another Chiefs loss. I'll be home and watch every last agonizing second of the 2nd half beatdown though, fwiw. I'd watch it no matter what, but wifey (who hates the Chiefs and loves rubbing it in when they suck) will most assuredly want to watch. I might have to kill her.

Hey, I'm as myopic a homer as you can possibly be... never say never and all that happy horseshit... but even I can read the writing on this wall.

Blots - 38
Chiefs - 10

Believe it or not it looks like Merriman's suspension may have been a blessing in disguise (with glasses).

The Bolts managed to go 4-0 with both him on suspension and Castillo out injured. They are both back now, healthy and ready to play. The offense has been rolling, the D has shown their depth and is now ready to kick some ass. Momentum is definitely on our side.

At the beginning of this week I was thinking the Bolts woud be in for a letdown and the Chiefs would possibly steal away a close win. As the week has progressed they are really playing up Hali's comments after their last meeting that the Chargers are a "soft" team (see CM's initial post). I have heard several interviews with players that seem to have taken quite offense to that and are looking to go out a kick some ass. It would seem that the Bolts are going to be more interested in pounding the shit out of KC than running up the scoreboard, thus

My take has changed due to the circumstances now presented.

If this current crop of KC players fortunate enough to have a Chiefs logo emblazoned on their helmets doesn't nut up now in honor of their deceased benefactor, I'll be stunned.

Get ready for an old fashioned AFL WAR, Chargers.

I saw where the line was at 8-1/2. I think that might change.

I agree. Opened at 7.5 and it will probably hit 9 as more money is laid on the favorite.

So are you going to go against the money?

I haven't bet since early last football season. You probably didn't notice, but I haven't posted a a "stone cold lead pipe lock thread" since last year...

Last fall, I went to a casino and won $1,400 playing blackjack and my fiance got pissed. I decided then that it'd probably be a good idea to stop gambling. I mean... if she got mad at me for winning, imagine her reaction when I lost...

I still follow the lines and like to talking gambling theory....

As much as I would like to see the Chiefs sack up and "win one for the DEAD OWNER," I just don't see it happening. How sad that Mr. Hunt had to witness that crapfest against the Ravens as his last game on earth.

This one will be fugly:

CHIEFS - 17

Chiefs-28

Bolts-20

Theres one very important thing missing from this thread: The fact that Marty has made a career of pissing down his own leg at this time of the season and on.......

As long as the following statement is true, Chargerfan will never see a Super Bowl trophy: Marty Shottenheimer (sp), Head Coach.

Enjoy your second round exit, Bolttards.
