Pro Bowl Rosters

Post by BBMarley »

Something needs to be done abotu the voting for the Pro Bowl.... How in the hell does Jax have the 2nd overall ranked D and only get 1 person in? John Henderson doesn't get in? John Lynch gets in when he is far from one of the best safties in the AFC this year... Romo is in over Bulger? Chris Mccallister over Assante Samuel? And as much as it pains me to say it- Boldin over TO?

This is such a goddman joke...
Yeah fuckers.... I'm back

I think by Pro Bowl time about 40% of the roster will be totally different. The only good thing about the Pro Bowl for the players is the free trip to Honolulu. Why they still play this game is beyond me.

Tiki Barber does not deserve to be going but since he is retiring he obviously got votes for that.

Complete BULLSHIT.

Shockey 64 Rec 626 yds 7 TD
Witten 54 Rec 642 yds 1 TD

10 more receptions and 6 more TDs for Shockey.

Way to go, Paula...

Brady was snubbed. W/ out him, the Pats aren't a playoff team.

I love that TO and Vick didn't get in.

Want to cry about an actual Patriots snub? Start with Warren and possibly Samuel. Brady over whom? Rivers? I've seen every Patriots game this year. It hasn't been a Pro-Bowl season for Brady... believe me.

Sapp's had himself a nice year.
Pro Bowl ... ?
I dunno.

Aso and Lechler deserved it.
Lechler in particular can't get any love.
Dude should have had a few pro bowls under his belt by now, and I do believe he has yet to make a single one.

It's sad.

It's MORE sad, however, that Raider fan has been reduced to having to cry because his punter didn't make the pro bowl.

Good times.

Actually I was wrong.
Lechler has made two pro bowls -- 2001, 2004.

My bad.

He still should have made it this year though.

Get off the fucking crack. Brian Moorman is averaging 39.5 net yards. Lechler is only averaging 36.8. End of story.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's how NFL coaches measure punters. If you line drive the ball and outkick your coverage, I don't care how far it went. Odds are, it's coming back pretty far.

Net yards. Yes.

Add in, punts inside the 20.

Lechler's punts get returned for an average of 12.6 yards. There is only one punter in the entire AFC with a worse return average than Lechler. Moorman also has fewer punts returned than Lechler despite having 10 more punts during the season. Moorman also has 10 more punts downed inside the 20 and 12 fewer touchbacks than Lechler.

So yea, you're right. It's not even fucking close.

But....

It's gotta be tough for Lechler to get it inside the opponent's 20 when dude is always kicking from the shadow of his own goalposts. Perhaps if Oakland's offense didn't suck so bad, dude wouldn't feel pressured to kick the living shit out of the football everytime.

Funny stuff.

Might also be a way coaches measure how shitty their coverage team is.

Just a thought.

As for your touchback (and inside the 20) stats, Bri', I admit that Lechler could improve in this area.

HOWEVER .........

Lechler has been SO OFTEN punting from Oakland's end of the field that he often blasts the hell out of the ball and has it end up going on in to the other end zone.

Or, as ucant described, Lechler is punting from his own end zone and has no hope of having it land inside the opp's 20.

Can't hardly blame him for booting the hell out of the ball.

Even so, he's outkicking his coverage. That's not good. That's not pro bowl material.

Yes, but you are judged on your body of work. Tom Brady barely missed the Pro-Bowl. He's had at least 4 balls go through his receiver's hands that ended up picks. He's also had about 20 perfectly thrown balls that were dropped. He's working with the worst group of receivers in the league. While I'd still take him over ANY QB in the NFL... his stats just don't measure up against the guys that were selected. Fair or no... you are judged by your bottom line. Punters included.

Funny how so many people squawk over the Pro Bowl selections, and how few actually watch it.

I never watch it, but I'm tickled about how many Charger players made it this year.

Anyone see Drew Brees and LT's interview on the NFL network? Those 2 guys are the most stand up pro's in the NFL.

Lechler crying to the media about not making it had me shaking my head out of pity.

STFU, puntard.

The real fuckup was not including Aso-just about every coach in the league he has faced has had incredibly high praise for this guy's lockdown ability. Sapp was very good this year also-but the team is 2-10 and the offense is the worst i've ever seen-and that will fuck a 'player' over in the voting department every single time.

You're a 'tard.

Last year B. Whoreman was the AFC Pro Bowl punter.

Why is it that last year Miami's Donnie Jones was not .... ?

I mean, look, Jones had the AFC's highest net avg, he had fewer touchbacks than Whoreman, and 9 freaking more 'inside the 20' punts than Whoreman.

And yet he was not chosen.

Why .... ?

Well gosh, maybe it had somethin' to do with Whoreman having the highest GROSS average in the conference.

The guy with the highest gross is normally the BEST punter.

Or maybe they got it wrong LAST year and got it right THIS year.

Though, to be perfectly fair, Moorman and Jones' 2005 seasons were a hell of a lot closer in quality than Moorman and Lechler's 2006 campaigns. Lechler doesn't even belong in the same discussion as Moorman this year.

I agree the Andy Reid blast was pretty darn funny, but right now I am grasping at straws, knowing this is my last chance to barf up some smack before the game. As for Westbrook in the passing game, please see Demarcus Ware on the left, Bradie james in the middle and Bobby Carpenter on the right. Westbrook on the run will be dealing with Canty on the left, Ferguson in the middle, and Spears on the right. Now I'm not saying they are going to stop Westbrook, but I believe they will contain him. For some reason I am more worried about Buckhalter. Is his leg still in tact?

Tony Homo....not bad...I'll give it a B

What about when Westbrook lines up in the slot as a receiver? Aside from Newman, what other corners do you have that are any good? Linebackers can't cover Westbrook so please tell me you have a decent corner that can..

Oh shit.. I just hijacked a punter thread.
