Lion fans to protest
Disgruntled Lions fans planning stadium walkoutAssociated Press
Some fans in Detroit are planning to protest the dismal state of the William Clay Ford-owned and Matt Millen-led Detroit Lions in their home finale for the second straight year.
Last season, about 500 people marched, chanting "Fire Mil-len!, before the Lions hosted the Cincinnati Bengals, and many wore orange during the game.
On Sunday against Chicago, another protest has been initiated by disgruntled fans. With 8:57 left in the second quarter, those interested in showing their displeasure with Ford and Millen are asked to walk out of their seats and to later walk out of the stadium.
"They pay 60 or 80 bucks for a ticket, so they can do what they want with it," Detroit tackle Jeff Backus said. "It's their right to do that. We're not putting a good product on the field, so if that's the way they want to react to it, then so be it."
The Lions (2-12) are tied with Oakland for the worst record in the league and are an NFL-worst 23-71 since 2001, when Millen took control of the once-mediocre franchise. If Detroit loses to the Bears and at Dallas next week, its six-season total of losses will trail only Tampa Bay's 74 setbacks from 1983-88 in league history.
Know what the Fords will be thinking?
"They still paid for their tickets so who cares if they leave? We still got their cash!"

The fanbase here has been all talk...I highly doubt the walk-out will happen. Just stop going to the games...the Fords get their money either way. I'm never stepping foot in there until they get their shit together nor am I'm buying or wearing anything with the logo on it...my own persoal protest. I have no sympathy for any sap that puts their money into that team. The walkout might be attention-grabbing but until the financial well runs dry, they won't listen to us.

I really don't know...I think it's just a time they picked out. Wasn't '57 their last NFL championship? Don't know what the 8 would be for and why the 2nd quarter? I won't watch today very intently because today is about family but if I see that after that point in the game, there isn't a mass exodus out of Ford Field, I'll just laugh at how spineless those LionFans is. I think I've listened to enough Detroit radio and heard enough complaining out of fans for me to begin to feel apathy about this team...I'm doing my part by not showing up nor watching the games on TV. The term used on local radio is being "Lions Free". If Millen isn't let go after this year, I will go the entire next season completely Lions Free...no talk about them or anything about them. They won't exist in my world. It's better to be pissed off than pissed on and while those idiots that go to the games continue to carry an umbrella, I just prefer to stay out of the line of fire. No smart fan should put themselves through that type of hell. I won't jump ship to another team...I'm just waiting for my guys to get a clue.

YOU. FUKKEN. PUSSIES.
About 100 fans left their seats during the second quarter in a protest against team president Matt Millen, who took control of the franchise when its slide began in 2001. They gathered to chant "Fire Millen!" and left the stadium.

Keep forking over the money and getting nothing in return, sheep...these sucker fans are part of the reason why this team never turns around. They've got a bit of a CubFan mentality. They'll wear the gear and go to the games but no matter how many times that team craps on them, they keep paying for the tickets and merchandise and support a loser franchise. I hope the Cowboys embarrass them next week and they finish 2-14. I'd like to hear the sheep explain why they're still going to the games after witnessing a season like this. For a city and a state that can boast to have as many championships in pro and college in the last 20-25 years as any community...that pathetic football team hasn't done squat that whole time nor have they done anything for the better part of a half-century.
