I did 99% of all my shopping online and thankfully got it done weeks ago. I knew that if I didn't get it out of the way early, it'd be a frigging mess trying to juggle the effort along with the "end of the 3rd academic quarter" school crap at work.

My seven-year-old is getting a 'chromo-shift' robo-reptile from the Discovery Store. Thanks to a combination of my educator discount, a $10-same-as-cash certificate I earned by buying lots of stuff from 'em this year, and buying it when they had it 25% off online, I snagged that puppy for $60. It's frigging cool and is going to scare the shit out of the two-year-old.

The gift that'll get me mega-points from Mrs. LabRat is a print I ordered for her. When we were on an anniversary getaway at Niagara-On-The-Lake this year, she was admiring this one artist's photo of flowers. She really wanted it, but the cost made her put off buying it at the time. We went to dinner that night and I talked her into splurging and getting it, but when we stopped by the next day, the artist's stuff was gone - it was a one-day show. Without her knowing, I got the business card of the artist from the gallery manager. Turns out that the artist has a website, and I ordered the coveted print for her directly from him. It arrived a few days ago. Can't wait to see her face on Christmas morning. I'm guessing that at the very least, she'll let me watch football...

Ahhh, this year was the easiest of the easy and by far the cheapest. My folks wanted a compact DVD/VCR combo player as they have everything they need, and Walmart had the last Magnavox marked down under $50. They aren't tech savvy so the simple remote should be good enough.

Sister? Simple, gift card at Macy's.

Nephew: Again, what would a 6 y/o care that his Walmart Commando action figure with accessories was only $5.

Me? A whole host of BBQ accessories and power tools and their accessories from Home Depot.

Total shopping time? 2 hours last week.

I will say that I never buy running shoes anywhere except online from Eastbay. I think they're in Wisconsin. Great deals all of the time.
