The Rose Bowl

The old school football fan in me says "Three out of Four years Michigan has gone to the Rose Bowl, that is something to be proud of." However, since 1998 the Rose Bowls meaning has deteriated. Ohio State is a great example of this. OSU hasn't been to the Rose Bowl since 1997. That's over 10 seasons without going, which is unheard of in the History of OSU football.

However, no one is going to say that OSU is lacking in success. They would have gone to the Rose Bowl in 2002 had the BCS not been around, and they would have gone this year.

With the Rose Bowl becoming nothing more than a consolation game and the fact that the Big Ten's best team over the last 5 years hasn't been there once. What is left of "Bowl Tradition?"

The Cotton Bowl which was a big deal is selling tickets for $20.

I am a traditionist in the strongest sense of the word, but the BCS ended the tradition, now its time to scrap the whole thing and put together a system that works.
