Hey, had Michigan handed USC's ass the way USC did to Michigan today, and if tOSU lost to UF, there was a small chance the AP could have voted Mich No. 1.

Only, it DIDN'T HAPPEN! Wow, everybody! YAY!






2. BSU's win over OU.

Congrats, BCS and Fox. You got the game you were looking for. The game didn't mean jack shit, outside of the two schools involved and it was a very entertaining game. Bravo! Bravo!

Boise State-Oklahoma was probably most exciting exhibition game of all time. Everyone is so damn concerned with matchups and TV and revenue and sticking to old fart tradition with these pointless bowl games. Scrap the whole damn thing and give us a playoff. I don't want to see anything more than 8 or 16 teams play each other on the field after the regular season is over and let them decide who is the national champs. Maybe I'm too much of a pro sports fan to worry about what goes into college sports but for this sport at this level to be so arrogant to think this is the way to go is insulting to every single fan that invests their heart and soul into each season. What is Boise State's reward from last night? Nothing. They played an amazing game, finished the season unbeaten and go away with nothing.

rf, your problem is that you can't boil it all down and appreciate the BSU-OU game for what it was; perhaps the best cfb game ever. What we all witnessed last night was damned near magical. While much of the rest of us are still reveling in what we watched last night, you wake up and begin to contrive an anti-bcs post, a shit one at that... yeah, like your post this morning wasn't a yearly 'take' on the BCS or anything.

Just effing sit back and appreciate what you saw last night for Christ's sake. Do we all want a playoff? Ummmmm, yeah. Would this game have meant a bit more? Ummmmm, yeah. Is there a playoff right now? Ummmmm, no. Can you do anything about it? Ummmmm, no.

So shut up and enjoy the fucking games. Really, it makes them that much more palatable when you strip away your hatred for the BCS.

I said I wouldn't follow Michigan with same intensity after they lose a game because college football has a system in place where losing a game in the regular season is almost the equivalent of being knocked out of tournament. Of course, we have a one-loss Florida team in the title game next Monday so that isn't always the case. I know I didn't say the rest of college football was dead to me after that. What I did say is that all bowls games except the title game are pointless and I don't need to watch them and think of them as something relevant. They are cute little exhibition games that have no value in the grand scheme of the season other than to put money in the pockets of the schools and sponsors while we sit on our collective asses and eat it up. Unlike you, I get nothing out of them...even with last night's great finish in the desert. I love college football's regular season...I just hate the postseason. Call me a radical but that's the way I feel. My views on bowl games are considered to be outside of the box but it doesn't affect the way you follow the games so why should I be exiled from college football island? Because I don't watch or think about the sport the same way you do, that makes me a bad guy? No, I'm just some schmo with a strong opinion that not many agree with. I know it's easier to hammer me because I'm so out there with my views and I have plenty of holes in my arguments. Every board needs someone who thinks outside the box...good, bad or indifferent. I know nothing I ever say here will change anything to the way I want it...I'm just exercising my ability to put out my opinion for others to piss on or agree with. Clearly, you're one of those that would prefer that I take my ideas elsewhere.

If the players get nothing out of it, why do they appear so happy to have won a great game?

If the BCS wasn't in place, then Boise State would have not of even had a shot to play a team like Oklahoma.

Happy now? I had one collective thought and didn't feel compelled to break it into little chunks. Whether you don't want to read it is up to you but to use the "it's all in one paragraph" argument is kind of lame.

Point is that while the BCS does have flaws, it's sole purpose is to pit the 2 best teams to play for the national championship. It does work more often than not. Imagine the controversy in 2004 when Auburn, OU and USC all were undefeated and would have all played in seperate Bowl games. It's hard to argue against Florida as #2 team right now, especially after seeing how Michigan got waxed yesterday.

While the playoff would still be the best system, the BCS is better than what preceded it.

Obviously, it was a great game in which everything worked for the underdog. Great story, great plays, awesome game to watch, and will probably be the best of all these exhibition games that have been on for the last 3 weeks.

But to say it was the best game ever is simply idiotic. I can think of two games LAST YEAR ALONE that were better (actually 3, if you count tOSU-Tex) because they were as intense during every play, had as many momentum swings and incredible plays and, oh yeah ... actually meant something. What part of that are you having trouble comprehending?
