ESPN Picks the 2007 Top 25

by See You Next Wednesday
Apropos of nothing here is a first shot at a 2007 ranking. The love affair ESPN has with Big 10 (I don't suppose that TV contract has anything to do with it), 3 teams in the top 10, four overall. PAC 10 and Big 12 have 2 each, SEC, ACC, Big East have 1 each. SEC has 7 overall. No Notre Dame (or Iowa!).
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/s ... id=2725188
1. USC
2. Florida
3. Michigan
4. West Virginia
5. Wisconsin
6. Oklahoma
7. Va Tech
8. Texas
9. Ohio State
10. Kal
11. Arkansas
12. Nebraska
13. LSU
14. Penn State
15. Texas A&M
16. Auburn
17. Georgia
18. TCU
19. Tennessee

That poll is bullshit because Cal isn't ranked numbers 1, 2, 4, and lucky 7.

I think skull has a man crush on "the truth".
I've got a fever...
More bear claws!
Psst... We are the lucky 7.
Another pre-season ranking NY TIMES: Cal #7!
Here's a graphic from the New York Times (which didn't require registration) re: pre-season rankings for 2007:
Arkansas' schedule - LOL!!!!
I guess Arkansas thinks SEC sch. is good enuff for Elo-Chess
That Arkansas schedule is shameful
I guess the Razorbacks realized that those 70-17 and 50-14 OOC losses to USC didn't work out so well.
Nothing like Troy, N. Texas, UT-Chattanooga, and FIU to complement that SEC slate. Frank Broyles should be ashamed of himself for arranging that schedule.

Nice Roadhouse reset. Wow did I just grow a mullet
Texas about 8 is about right for the start of next year. If the DBs come to play Texas should be in the top 3 if not they will drop quickly with games against TCU and Oklahoma. Texas defensive front 7 will be the best in the Big 12 and once the oline gels I expect to see us dominate once again offensively.

try again fairy, nebraska will be the class of the big 12 next season, callahan continues to impress me with the big tiome recruits he has coming in, taylor was nothing compared to the new guy coming on, I fully expect to beat usc in Linco0ln in september, and texas will be handled easy by us, BANK ON IT,
that number 12 ranking is spot on, espn realizes that callahan is bringing in some serious talent on both sides of the ball,
im PUMPED!

Funny that Boise State's "showcase" game is against U.Washington, and Ohio State's toughest out of conference game is against these same Huskies.
To Cal, Washington is just another game in the Pac10, and is not viewed to be as difficult as USC, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon St., and probably Arizona st.

Link?
Fuck it, you won't find one.
We're too busy starting the season against a Tennessee team
when healthy, lost to the MNC's (Florida) by 1 point, in the last minute of the game.
Nice bowl win Vito. Nothing like beating a 6-7 Iowa team by 2 points... at home!
How embarrassing is that? lol!

to show how little 420BoardBitchTOOL knows...
the U-Dub game for tOSU was a H & H payback (that would be home and home) U-Dub came to Columbus in 2003 and this has been on the slate since when the agreement was made...besides I don't think anyone said the U-Dub game for tOSU was a marquee game...in fact the comment was made that the OOC schedule was WEAK...
nice try dumbfuck...I can't wait until we play Cal in the future...we are going to dryfuck you bastards...

Sam - I believe it was M420Bitch that called out Arkansas schedule...
Buckeye Fan has been on record numerous times that their 2007 schedule is weak...although Michigan, Sconsin, PSU will be a tough end of the season stretch...
can we play a game first before we get into the my schedule is better than yours? How do we know how any of these teams will fair later on this year? We don't...any one of a number of conference teams can come out and shit the bed...and the opposite is true...a team like Illinois could come out and strengthen the Big 10...who the Fuck knows...

Zook is still the coach, and Isiah Williams is still the QB. They will suck all kinds of ass for as long as Zook is there.

Illinois didn't win much in 06 but were way more competitive. They shouldn't suck in 07. Zook is still Zook so they won't be good. But they won't just suck.
I'd certainly accept Neb making it to #12, we just lost Brandan Jackson though so the road will be rougher. We will be in year-4 of the BC-era, most of the players will be his. The "blame Solich" excuse won't hunt much longer. Hopefully Keller is the real deal.

We have A LOPT returning. Our only real questions are how well will the new LB corp step up (which has been asked and answered the same way every other year of th Stoops tenure) and quarterback. We are LOADED at the specialty positions, especially runningback and wide reciver. What at one time was our achiles heal, the secondary, turned into a strong suit for most of the second half of the season with Reggie moving back to SS and the emergence of Nic Harris as Royback kind of rover player. If we can find just a somewhat solid quarterback who simply doesn't lose us ball games with his mistakes Oklahoma will be a pretty damn salty team next year.

Texas returns 7 starters on offense and 6 on defense. The only worry is the defensive backfield, their only early challenge will be TCU and Oklahoma. If they get buy those I feel pretty good that Texas will finish undefeated.
I will have a much better idea what Texas will look like after spring practice

nebraska and aTm too highi'd have huskers in 20 spot, with aTm in 23-24 spot.
how is ucla pre season ranked?they would finish under .500 in the big12 North(as would rest of big12 north)
wake forrest at 22 is a joke, they had a lot 5 year seniors, they lose a lot, and they don't have the talent to retool. took advantage of a bad acc last year, cinderella slipper is gone.
cal at 10? when they can go undefeated in pac10, then call me about a top 10 ranking. they will have 2-3 conference losses at end of year and will beat an average team in shitty bowl and regain national championship status.

Talk about your ass-backwards schedules -- we play our easiest opponents at the end of the season. I suppose there's nothing we can do about the Big Ten teams (who have a "play us in September or not at all" rule as to us), or the season-ender at Stanford (which alternates with USC on our schedule), but it would have been nice if White, at a minimum, had been able to switch the Duke and Georgia Tech games.
