Duke doesn't have a low post presence on offense or defense. They aren't shooting the three like they have in the past and their offense overall is just not fluid.

This team will go 9-7 in the ACC and be lucky to reach the Sweet 16.

This is definitely a transitional year for them...very young and the expectation level shouldn't be set too high for them out of fairness to their inexperience. If Coach K can will them into the second weekend of the Big Dance, I'd call that a success. Carolina is the class of the league and oddly enough, they're just about as young as Duke. However, they had their transition year last year.

McRoberts is pretty much a Laettner-type of player with probably not as much range. They don't have that Elton Brand, Carlos Boozer or Shelden Williams in the post who can pretty much manhandle the opposition. They have plenty of talent but they're very green. If McRoberts hangs around for another year, I think next year should be their comeback season...top 5 team and a definite contender for the ACC crown.

Actually, the "next year" prognosticators of the U&L are kind of spoiled right now.

When Kyle Singler hits Duke next year, I think some jaws are going to be dropping. The only knock on the guy has been a lack of "killer instinct," and that issue seems to have been adressed in his senior year.

Duke fans are going to go ga-ga over this guy. Very reminiscient of Mike Dunleavy, only much, much more athletic. 6'9", and an outstanding ball-handler, who likes to go to the hole and dunk, but can be very creative both in getting shots, and making sure his teammates stay involed. Doesn't seem to have mich interest in being a one-man show, but is quite happy being the centerpiece of a 5-man show...Coach K material, all the way.

Duke fans are really going to like the guy, and it's probably a pretty safe bet he'll be starting next year at some position or another(obviously dependent on how the returning players do). He can play the 1-4, doesn't seem to matter.

You'll like him.

But this year, every conference is the PAC10's bitch.

On the O-State "waxing", as you put it so well...I have to wonder. Sean Sutton prepares the team well, and they could not do squat against the KU defense. I know KU is known for D, the Bill Self team that they are and they did play an awesome defensive game, but that was a horrible showing on O-State offense and just about everything else. Looked like shades of last year with the total mental breakdown the Pokes did then, and I look for a turnaround on that. Sean Sutton is more forgiving on little mistakes than Eddie was, but he's meaner on the whole mental outlook. They need to be tougher...like real soon. Could be that we see the football pads coming back out again :).

We’ll see. Sagarin currently has them third, behind the ACC and the SEC.

Sagarin says the PAC10 was by far the best football conference, too.

But, the PAC has some beasts this season. Lots of good teams throughout the country, actually. Makes for a fun season, regardless. Making the best HS players go at least one year seems to be improving things already.

Actually, if you look you'll see that Sagarin came to his senses and ranked the PAC 10 third in football too, behind the SEC and the Big East. I do agree with your point regarding the kids spending a token year in college.

My bad...haven't checked the Sagarins for football since the championship...I just assumed it didn't alter the overall conference rankings.

And yeah, CBB seems to be on the upswing this year, for sure. Which has nothing to do with my Quackers rocking the party or anything...

I'm not so sure.

Sin,
