John Peel Fans:

Tonight I watched this:

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/underto ... ndertones/

Now...I was a big Undertones fan, so of course the documentary was great for that reason alone. However, the thing was done in 2001 by John Peel. I never knew he was such a huge fan, and that he basically launched their career outside of the Bogside.

Memorables:
-The My Perfect Cousin video
-John Peel stating that he wanted "Teenage Kicks" inscribed on his tombstone...has this really happened? Euro? Anyone?

RACK Netflix for making it possible for me to see this...

just put into my que.
i was big time into gang of four and buzzcocks in high school. I remember the first time someone pulled pink flag out on me. I felt stupid because I had never heard wire before then. at that time, I dove headfirst into everything I could from that era and came up with the undertones. I was very down.

He stated a few years ago that he wanted "Teenage dreams, so hard to beat" on his tombstone. I'm sure his wishes were followed. If you're interested, Jarvis Cocker, of Pulp, hosted an excellent tribute to Peel. You can listen to it here.

And thanks for the link to that DVD. I'll be getting it as soon as I can.

I haven't heard the new guys yet. I don't see how they can compare. I'd rather just listen to his old shows instead.

Another funny moment of the Undertones DVD is the portions of Feargal Sharkey's solo stuff...a sight for sore eyes indeed. Pure, unadulterated cheese. Oh well, he made a few bucks out of it...
