Jerimy Finch, ranked #30 overall by Rivals and the #2 safety, has decided to back out of his Michigan verbal and will instead attend IU. He is arguably the biggest recruit IU football has landed in a decade. He played at Warren Central in Indy, and they're coming off their 4th straight 5A title. Three of his teammates are joining him to be Hoosiers next fall. Coach Hep has things moving in B-town fellas. The days of an easy W when you see IU are on your schedule are about over.

That was a nice get for the Hoosiers. Hep is having a nice class.

Also, per rivals, Zook at Illinois is having the best year of any Big 10 school.

Don't be surprised if Finch doesn't qualify. He's a LD kid and took quite a few LD classes in High School. I think it will be hard for Finch to stay eligible.

Can't qualify for Indiana? Ooh, Saban should get all over that one. Stupid kids fit in just perfectly at Alabama. All Tide fan needs is the education levels to drop in this country so that kids struggle to get into real universities and than Crimson Tide football will be right back to where it once was.

And Sam, I'd worry less about taking pot shots at IU football and more about the fact that Alabama (despite the Saban hire) is on the fence of fading into obscurity from a championship perspective. For all their former glory they just aren't on the same level as the big boys in the CFB world right now. It'll be interesting to see if Saban can remedy that. IU fans realize we won't be playing for BCS bowls but it sure would be nice to be playing for ANY bowls.

tOSU hopefully can close with some big names...Major Wright, hopefully persuading RO JO to decommit from UM...if not a very thin class but deece quality with Saine, Clifford, and a couple kids from FLA...

if they don't get everyone they want they will bank the ships and save for 08 from what I hear 08 is going to be a killer year for recruiting...just sayin...

ROJO isn't committed to UofM yet. I would love for anyone but UofM to get him. The meltdown would be awesome.

Wright is visiting ND this weekend, but he appears to be a UF lean/silent right now.

'08 is going to be heavy on the WR position. ND will have limited spots, but already a few leans.

Best class ever? Lets wait 5 years from now and see how they do. I find it very fishy that Wilson switched up his commitment out of now where,just like Brantley, when both those kids have been committed for some time. Urban is a snake oil salesman. It will come back to bite him in the ass.

Killian I just read an article where Wright had tOSU still as his #1 a Miami Herald article...but we know that Gainesville is the center of the universe and how it is the greatest place ever...

oh well we shall see...sorry I thought RO JO was a UM commit...boy would I love tOSU to get him...hopefully Jimmy T pulled out that depth chart and said...I can see you as um NUMBER 1 next year...

Some of the ND guys have heard that Wright is a silent to UF. I assume they are hearing this from Young and Wenger, his teammates from last year.

Wilson plays at Nease....do you know who else played at Nease? If not, don't worry about it. And didn't UF just win a National Championship? I mean who would want to play for the champs of the SEC and the Nation? Why would anyone want to go to a winning program? And Brantley? His uncle is only THE SCOT BRANTLEY. Wow, why would he go there. The question is why wasn't he going there to begin with?

Surprising, considering his baby's momma goes to IU.

He's LD, so it will be a struggle to keep him on the field.

It was still a great class (at least by IU standards) but without Finch there isn't that WOW factor associated with any of our guys. Of course not all of those guys pan out and I have confidence in Coach Hep to develop the guys he does have.

I personally believe any class ranked 20 or higher is as good as any because in 4 years the class rankings don't seem to mean much. Too many variables with these young kids and how they're going to pan out.

Totally untrue. Someone posted the top five recruiting classes from 2000-2002 and those schools were basically in the top 5 4-5 years later. It DOES matter. It's not a perfect science but having bigger, stronger, faster kids than the rest HAS to play out somewhere.

Sure...and those recent classes had good programs/staff working with them. NU took 30th ranked classes and bitched the entire nation to the tune of 62-3 with 3 national titles. Gaytors got in on some of that if you recall.

I'd gladly exchange classes with this year's Florida class...don't get me wrong, but I think there's more to it than someone's opinion on how good a player is going to be.

Ya Neb got-over on having recruits that fit their offensive system, and also redshirting most their guys so they could spend another year in what used-to-be the premiere S&C program in the country. We could take a few playmakers and some solid guys and make a national-power. But those days are over unfortunately. Personally, I wish we were a spread-option team. That would fit-well with the kind of recruiting classes you can get in Neb.

If these kids were smart they'd buy-into Hoeppner's substance rather than Zook's BS. IU is obviously a better-coached team than Illinois, they just need the horses.
