I was just gonna come on here and pimp Alando Tucker.....

But yesterday was the 2nd or 3rd time I've seen him play and I must say he is one of the absolute best players I've ever seen in person. I really do not believe he gets the respect he deserves even though he is in the running for national POY. Wisconsin is a mediocre team without him. With him, they're Top 5. He can do it all. We played good defensively against him, but that didn't matter. I haven't seen the box scores yet but I only recall him missing 1 shot. We guard him with a hand in his face, he drains a 3. We double down low, he hits a fade away. He carried the Badgers on offense.

Going through the years of players I've seen in person, I'd probably compare him most to a better shooting Grant Hill. Both players are similar except I'll go so far as to say Tucker is better because he has a better perimeter game. He can beat you inside, he can beat you outside, he plays great defense, he's a good passer, he plays smart, he's athletic, he can take it to the whole, and he's surprisingly quick. No way to defend that. I've pretty much seen all the great Big-10 players of my generation (and many great players from other conferences.........guys like Marcus Fizer, Jamaal Tinsley, Steve Smith, The Fab 5, Michael Finley, Calbert Cheney, Grant Hill, Julius Hodge, Jimmy Jackson, Mateen Cleaves, etc) and I would rank Tucker at or near the top of the list of great college players I've seen. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I do not get the feeling that the country respects his game the way I do. 10-15 years from now, I believe I will still be considering him one of the best Big-10 players of the century.

Kevin Durant. If he wasn't a Freshman, there wouldnt even be a discussion.

Haven't seen Tucker play enough. But I'll tell you what, the local radio honks (even Duck homers) seem to think he's the player of the year.

We can throw all kinds of names out there, though. Certainly couldn't argue with anyone for going with Durant.

[homerpick]Aaron Brooks may get some love for being A) The leading scorer in the Best Conference, and B) Being a 4th year senior.

Not sure of staying the duration in CBB gets you extra credit when player of the year voting comes around, but maybe it should. Other side of the coin, Brooks is still around in his senior year because A) He's a midget, and B) Because he blew monkey chunks for his first 3 years, and finally decided to show up for his 4th.


Some really good CBB players this year, all around the country. Too bad there can be only one "player of the year." I'd love to see about 5 deserving guys share it.

Durant should get consideration just for leading the Big 12 in scoring and rebounding.

My homer pick would be Acie Law IV. A&M would be absolutely nothing without this guy. Also a senior that stuck around which is always good to see.

However, I gotta say Durant at this point. A few more losses though and I think he is out of the running.
