Props to the Hoosiers

Nice win over Bucky. The Badgers tried to make that one big run in the second half, but Indiana kept scoring. Great time for A. J. Ratliff to have his biggest game of the year.

Once they get to the NCAA tournament, I don't think Wisconsin's downfall would come from Tucker having an off day, it would come from the rest of the team not showing up. Kam Taylor had another nice game, and Landry was solid off the bench. But our BWPs (Butch, Chappell & Stiemsma) were a combined 1-3 from the field and scored 3 points.

Nice win for Indiana, and a good move getting rid of Mike Davis. That cheating bastard Emeril seems to have them moving in the right direction.

I was really hoping Indiana would beat Wisconsin, so that Iowa would have a better shot of beating Indiana on Saturday. Good possibility that coming off an emotional win like that, Indiana could have a letdown- especially on the road.

it was a good game to watch. i don't pull against Kelvin. and if he wins i'm kinda happy for the guy. when they were chanting his name.....i thought that was pretty cool and reminded me of when Stoops came to Oklahoma and put a beatdown on a ranked Texas ATM in 99. a proud program finally returns from the desert. blah blah blah.

Kelvin beat #1 Kansas in Norman in 94-95? guy is tough as a coach when the players buy in. this could be a similar type win. playing a physical conference hasn't helped his teams in tournament time. hard to beat teams when they are shooting the double bonus for the last 5 minutes of each half.....and you are getting called for hand-checks 25 feet from the basket. there are some guys you don't have to guard 25 feet from the basket. they had foul trouble last night.

jus sayin.

I'm calling my shot for tomorrow.....

Iowa 71
Indiana 67

I am really hoping that the road win over Michigan will be a spring board for this inexperienced team. I think it will give them confidence and Tony Freeman's performance also might be a springboard for him as point guard of this team. We need that 3rd scorer and we need a solid point guard and hopefully Freeman has gotten over the hump. I think he'll play well and give us that 3rd option to Haluska and Smith and Iowa uses the home crowd to their advantage to upset the Hoosiers and get to 5-4 in the Big-10.

I'll take tremendous understatements for 1000 Alex.

Put this into perspective, both IU and Wisconsin hired interim coaches the same year and both guys did decent jobs. IU settled for theirs and Wisconsin hired Bo Ryan. Fast forward 6 years and look where each program is.

Wisconsin is still a helluva team and will go deep in the tourney. I'm just not sure, despite Tucker being a stud and Ryan being a great coach, that they've got enough to take out the heavyweights of UNC, UF and UCLA.

As for Iowa/IU, I look for a Hawkeyes victory. They're a much better team at home and this isn't an extremely talented IU team, it's just well coached. Now if we hadn't kept that fuck Davis around for so long our roster might have guys like Dominic James, Luke Harangody, Greg Oden, Mike Conley, etc, etc, etc on it.

Well, the refs in that game yesterday should all be fired. That was pathetic. What is with some refs thinking they are the game and not the players? How many times did a player get called for a foul on a 3-pt shot and I don't think once there was a foul. 56 fucking fouls in a non-physical game? 1.4 fouls per minute. Ridiculous.

Still, really glad to see us finally starting to slowly put it together. We don't typically turn the ball over, but that was a problem yesterday. We've now won 9 of our last 10 home games against ranked opponents which is an unbelieveable accomplishment. I thought the biggest key to the game was our defense of DJ White. Indiana just made no adjustments throughout the game to our double-teaming White. I was saying early in the game if we could just weather the storm while Indiana was shooting out of their minds, we'd be fine. And we did.

Could be a very entertaining rematch if these teams meet up in the Steve Alford Invitational errrr the Big-10 tournament.

No doubt that the refs yesterday were horrible. I would have liked to have seen that game played where each team was able to get up and down the court because in my obviously biased opinion IU would have fared better. Like I told my wife as I was ranting and raving about the officials, the refs didn't give the game to anyone they just ensured the winner would be the team able to overcome their ineptitude better. Props to Iowa for doing just that.

As for the biggest key to the game it should be rather clear, Iowa owned the glass.

Yeah, our rebounding has gone from embarrasing (beginning of season) to a strength of this team. Drake has 6'5 power forwards and they absolutely killed us on the glass back in December (as did other shitty teams). Now, we're owning the glass.

I'm not really sure how this happens, but it seems like every game we turn the ball over a lot we win and every game we don't we lose. The last couple of games we've had turnover problems against Michigan and Indiana but won. Early in the year we were turning the ball over no more than 10 times a game and losing. Heck, last year we did a horrible job of not turning the ball over and we went 25-9. I have no explanation for that!

Right now our strengths are Haluska, Smith, free-throw shooting, and rebounding. If our bigs can continue to improve offensively (they've all shown signs) and Freeman can start showing some consistency, this can be a very good team. But until then, we're just going to be a very inconsistent team.

I think Alford and Sampson should both send complaints to the Big-10 office for the officiating. I think every post I read from an Iowa or Indiana fan mentioned how annoyed and frustrated they were by the refs. If both teams are bitching, then somethings wrong.
