With all the upsets this weekend, that loss is hurting more and more. A&M might be considered a 1 seed now had Jackson not made that tremendous play.

Looking forward to it. Actually, I'm a bit concerned about this week @ OSU. The pokes just lost a tough one at home, where they rarely lose. They are on the bubble now and will be getting up for this game.
I'll be in Napa Valley on Wednesday with the wife for our 5 year anniversary trip. Somehow, I am going to have to convince her to sit in a bar from 6:00-8:00 so I can watch this game. Gonna be tough...

You could ask her to spend two hours in the bar in exchange for two hours of fellatio.

Ever been to a bar in Napa Valley before?
Have fun making small talk with the yuppies and fags.
And be prepared -- you may not be able to find a burger that's actually made of beef there. But if you want a slice of pizza with atichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, some sort of organic goat cheese, and no meat whatsoever...then you'll be in the right place.
If those rugged frontiersmen who blazed the Silverado Trail could see how it's become the YuppieHomo Expressway, they'd poo their pants posthumously.
Napa is where the wealthy homos tend to congregate. Beautiful country, though.

Oh no, now I know why its going to rain on Wed and thursday and our 66 degree weather of today is going back into the upper and low 50's on wed and thursday. I'm about 20 minutes away and toward the coast.
How long are you staying? Hopefully, all your time wont be spent in the wine country.
If you need suggestion's on some cool places to go... let me know.

Just staying until Sunday. We'll be spending a couple days in San Fran and a couple days in Napa. I saw no reason to spend even more time in Napa than that. Napa is mainly for the wife. She really wants to go there. THe only thing I'm really looking forward to is walking on Alcatraz. That's the only "touristy" thing I believe we will be doing. Maybe ride a trolley. The wife actually said she wanted to find the "Full House House". I laughed...and then said No.

Jesus fuck...........you guys are scaring me. I'm getting hitched this summer and hearing the way you guys talk makes me miss single life already! Having to convince her to let you watch your team play a big game???? Fuck that. Taking a trolley ride???? Gee, how exciting! Being excited to visit Alcatraz??? Don't get me wrong, if I ever go out there I'm sure I'd like to see it, but come on.......that can't seriously be a highlight of the trip, is it???

jon,
I didn't say I was creaming my pants to see Alcatraz. I was saying that's the extent of what I was looking forward to. Basically, this is a trip for my wife. I go to every Colts home game. I go to the IU football (I use that term loosely) home games. I went to Texas twice this year for A&M football games. I went to Cincy to watch the Astros for a weekend. I went to St. Louis to watch the Astros for a weekend. I was a cunt hair away from going to the Super Bowl. ALL of that in the last year. My wife is VERY understanding of me and my love for all things sports. My home office looks like a shrine to Texas A&M. It is painted maroon. It has 9 A&M Benjamin Knox portraits hanging in it. Book cases covered in A&M memoribilia. I can't believe she doesn't throw a fit about my A&M obsession.
I think a 4 day trek to "yuppie country" is a small price to pay for all the shit I get to do. My comment to Goober was tongue in cheek (no pun intended). I'm a lucky guy. You have to pick your battles and watching an A&M game on my 5 year wedding anniversary vacation isn't going to be one of them. Surrounded by "yuppie fags" for a few days, I'm sure I can make it through the trip and I will have a date with TIVO when I return.
That will be all, Grasshopper.

It's too bad you cant make the first 2 days in Napa when its raining, but it may not be that bad, since it could get boring in Napa for 2 days, so I'll give you places to go when you get there.
I've seen these Go Cars always going by my apartment in
"The City", and they look kinda cool and a nice way to check out the city. I've never been on one, but it always looked kinda cool. My place is on the corner of California @ Arguello Blvd. which they go by and they seem to come from Geary blvd on the tour.
Check this out (video).
Go Cars
So your wife wants to see the painted ladies?
If so, I can tell you how to get there.

Actully, we'll fly into SF and go to Napa on Wed and Thurs night and be in SF all day Fri and Sat before jetting out Sunday.
You serious about being in Napa while it's raining? Meaning there is something to do there fun while it is raining or meaning it would get me out of the beatdown of going to brunches and wine tasting shit? I can't imagine it would be fun winery jumping in the rain.
I take it the Painted Ladies is the Full House House? I never watched the show, but I assume that is what you meant. Yeah, give me the 411 on that. Good carrot to dangle...

Sorry, couldn't let that softball go by without taking a swing.
FWIW, my wife knows to check the IU schedule before making any plans that involve us both.

Let me know when you land at SFO. Tues night, Wed. morning, afternoon, or evening???
These are very important to know so that you dont get stuck in traffic, and I can give you the best route to Napa.
Also, that "Go Car" thing looks very cool, and from what I've seen as they pass by, they seem to be going around 35 mph. which would be very cool. I think its about $80 for 2 hours, so around $40 a piece. Very good deal, and you get a guided tour for a couple of hours around the city and dont have to park. Just make the reservations online and you should be good to go.
San Francisco is very small... 7 by 7 miles and around 700,000 people... but during the day you can have as many as 3 to 4 million people there.
Man, there is so much shit to do, you could be in "the City" for a month and not see everything. Let me know where in the city you'll be staying, so I can give you some directions too some cool places in the city, and across the Golden Gate Bridge.

We get to SF about noon on Wed. Renting a car there and driving to Napa.
We are staying over at the Fisherman's Wharf area. I plan to eat seafood like it is going away for good. Being landlocked makes me miss seafood so much. I grew up on the Gulf Coast and shrimp found their way into my cast net any time I wanted. Blue crab pulled in on a string with a chicken neck...any time I wanted. I miss that shit.

If you want some great seafood, go to Scoma's. My dad is from Nor Cal and I have been going there since the 70's. It is right off of
Fisherman's Wharf. The Crab Salads are killer and the fresh fish is good too. You will not be disappointed.

Ok, this is good.
I'm going to take you a way that your "MapQuest" probably hasn't given you, but will be much faster and with less traffic.
When you're leaving SFO take the 380 and not 101 going to the city. Then you'll come up on the 280 and you'll take that north. The 280 will turn into 19th ave. and you'll take that all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge. On 19th ave. you'll pass the western edge of Golden Gate Park and it'll then turn into the Avenues which is also known as the "Richmond" district. This area is also where 420 resides when not hanging out with his lady here in Marin. Once you pass Geary, Clement, and Arguello(420's cross street) Blvd's you'll head through the MacArthur tunnel and be in the Presido which goes all the way to the bridge. Also when you exit the tunnel, you'll need to be in the left hand lane as soon as possible so you dont end up going to the Marina district. You'll be at the Golden Gate in less than 60 seconds and you will not have to pay the toll when heading over the bridge into Marin.
Ok, this is where 420's lady skills come into play and will score you the first "hummer"
you've had since you've been married... later on in the evening up in Napa.
Once you cross the Golden Gate (this is only if you want to
receive a hummer later, rather than... nevermind) Take your first exit (not the bridge overlook) the next one, and it should say Sausalito. Take a left under the highway and in minutes you'll be driving on the road which is the Marin headlands... and you'll have this view
http://www.ronsaari.com/stockImages/san ... aytime.jpg
Even a guy thats been married for 10 years or more should get pussy later that night with such a charming move as this.
Ok, when you get back to the highway and go under it, I was going to say go straight and head into Sausalito, but I think you've scored enough points with the previous move. Now get back on the highway (101) and head north. You'll being going up hill and head thru a tunnel called the Waldo with rainbows and all, and as you approach the tunnel have the wife look back and she'll have a great view of the city. Once you get through the tunnel you'll be heading down a grade, which by chance, is called the "Waldo" grade.
When you get to the bottom, start looking around for signs that say Stinson Beach, Highway 1, and Muir Woods... this will become important when you've bored yourself with the Wine country, trust me. Keep heading north on the 101 and you'll be going through a town called "San Rafael" (this is the place where the term "4:20" has its orgins). When you pass downtown San Rafael, you'll be heading up a slight hill for about a mile, and you'll then be heading down into the Terra Linda Valley and off to the right as you go into the valley is the Marin Civic Center (Frank Lloyd Wright)
This is where the "Angela Davis" (Black Panthers) trial took place and the futuristic film by George Lucas
THX-1138 was filmed.
![Image](http://www.inn-california.com/sanfrancisco/images/c4269.jpg)
![Image](http://www.inn-california.com/sanfrancisco/images/c4272.jpg)
![Image](http://www.inn-california.com/sanfrancisco/images/c4274.jpg)
Less than a 1/4 of a mile after you pass the Civic Center is the
Terra Linda/ Freitas Parkway exit...
This is a
very important exit!
If you were to go over the highway at this exit and head about 2 and 1/2 miles to the west into the coastal mountains, you'd be at 420's girlfriends house where I'm posting from right now!
The next exit after this is... Lucas Valley Rd. and where George Lucas lives. The road was not named after him, by the way.
*This is also a good road to take to the coast and Highway 1, even if there are no signs saying so.*
Trust me, its beautiful and no traffic!
Now you're only 5 minutes from your exit to highway 37 which will take you to Napa. you'll drive for about 5 to 10 minutes and you'll come up on Sears Point Raceway with an intersection. Go left at this intersection and do not veer right or you'll be headed to Vallejo.
This road will take you to highway 12 where you will go east and into Napa for some fun times of drinking fine wine and getting that well deserved hummer!

m2,
Thanks for the info.
[Robbie Hart]It would have been much more beneficial had you posted it BEFORE I LEFT![/Robbie Hart]
Anyhow, we ended up going the way of the mapquest and we were able to view so much of the "beauty" that is Oakland. Talk about a shithole...went through Berkley too on the way and I gotta say that place was the suck as well...at least the views from the highway. Anyhow, we went up 101 then to 80 then to 37 then to 12. We got there in 40 minutes from the airport as there was no traffic.
As far as San Fran went, we ate dinners at Scoma's and Aliotos. Had lunches at Boudin and Tiernan's Pub. We barhopped each night and hit all the main places in the Wharf.
Get this though....first day in SF, we trolleyed down to Union Square. The wife was wanting to see the "Painted Ladies" so we start walking down Market St. trying to get to McAllister where we can catch the 5 on over to Fulton and hit Alamo Square to see them. We wait and wait and wait...no bus. No problem, we'll walk it. We walk...and walk...and walk...apparently through the ghetto of San Fran. Some fucked up people there. Once we got to Alamo Square, I took this gem:
The wife then wanted to go see Haight Ashbury. Ok, might as well walk it. Talk about a mistake. We ended up walking from Union Square all the way to Haight Ashbury just to see some freaks. Needless to say, we cabbed it back as our legs were fooking tired and we didn't have the best walking shoes on.
Of course, all places have their shitheads. This was on the ground right in front of the Painted Ladies. Total asshole...
All in all, we had a great trip. I enjoyed myself much more than I thought I would have. The one thing that surprised me the most...how nice people were. I was expecting a lot of assholes, but the only people that pissed us off were the fucking Euro tourists. Those fucks are rude as hell and have no concept of "other people".
We both agreed though, it's a once in a lifetime trip. Neither of us have a desire to go back. For one, I spent $800 on 2 cases of wine in Napa. The wife wasn't too happy about that...until we got to SF and I threw down some cash for a David Yurman bracelet and 3 North face jackets for her.
Only regrets...I wish I went to Muir Woods to see some real trees. Never made it there. GOlden Gate Bridge was so-so. Alcatraz was awesome, but we only needed an hour to do the whole thing. Lombard St...overrated. Had some good times...gave it an A+. If I did it again, probably a B- at best. And if you live in Marin or in the vicinity, that is a very nice area, I agree. Of course, that wasteland on 37 from Napa to 101 is another story. Talk about a lot of nothing...

Ok, this confuses me to a point. Probably more you than me.
I think you may have gone from the 880 to the Richmond Bridge, and hit the 101 to 37 and so on.
It was a rainy day so... you get a pass. wink
Actually it rained more in those few days than all winter. It was cold as hell, also.

Alamo Square is where he had a home. This should be a good one to tell you wife, since women love that kinda stuff.

Cool. The city peeps are real. The people you need to worry about are the peeps from the burbs and their million dollar homes.
Their shit dont stink, and they're poor compared to the peeps in the city.
They're just to uptight too know it.

Frisco, it's impossible to do the city and the area in 4 days. It sounds like you did well, and had fun.
Take those memories with you... and make a trip back when you can see the things you missed.
It's the journey brother... and the trip.
Sorry I wasn't much of a help.

Scomas kicked ass. As good as advertised. Everywhere we went the next day asking for a good place to eat, the first place all the locals suggested was Scomas. Once we said we did that the night before, they all said something in the nature of "Well, you've already had the best."
I had the exact menu I posted above. It was pricey as fuck, but I didn't care. The wife had the free bread and 3 drinks and ordered a cheese Round Table pizza when we got back to the hotel. She's a cheap date so I ate for two.
By the way, you ever had Round Table pizza? We had one in Dallas that was in a Hollywood Video store. They shut the pizza portion down. Probably because the price. They are expensive. We had Round Table for lunch the first day in Napa. We each had a 6" Personal Pizza, an order of 6 garlic twists and a pitcher of beer. $32. Damn good shit though. We have now enjoyed Round Table in Napa, San Fran, Dallas and Maui.
Oh, eating a Dungenous Crab on the street with all the ching-chongs was an adventure too. I'm sitting there eating my crab and throwing the scraps back in my bowl. The chongs were just throwing their crab shells on the ground. Once again, the only assholes we encountered were the tourists. I sat there many a time and thought to myself, I wonder if the locals look at all of us (tourists) and think we are all that way.

Some of my fondess memories as a kid were walking in Fisherman's Wharf and smelling the sourdough bread. I am glad you liked Scouma's. I love it up there. It is truly a unique place. I personaaly love going to Carmel. We had a few trips there when I was a kid and it was really nice. My sister lives in Sonoma and is close to a ton of vinyards. It is too bad she is a bitch and I don't talk to her.
Do you golf? Talk about great courses. I got to play at Pebble a few years ago and it was truly a great experience.

Golf? Hell yeah. I'm a regular in the Golf Forum. I'm a mid-high 80s golfer. If not for coons, I'd be mid-high 70s. I was scratch in high school. My best round ever was a 68.
Funny...I used to shoot a 76 and break a club because I hit a shit shot. Now, I hit shit shots at least 5-10 times a round and I never get mad. Amazing what a little maturity does for your golfing experience...and also marriage and children (the getaway).
