That looks pretty cool. Much better than my shitty label. I'd be interested in seeing what else you have. I love all the symbolism you have in there of the fire, the animals, the "B" brand, the star. Excellent.

It's actually not a bad idea. It would be eye-catching, stand out above the rest of the sauces (which is the goal, right?). Plus it would appeal to a lot of the oafish midwestern-types like KC Paul.

I might do a second design over the weekend. I threw this one together on Sunday night. Patsy and I have been throwing ideas back and forth. I'm sure one of us will come up with a winning idea for you, Indy...

That looks pretty cool. Some of the feedback I got from Patsy's was they weren't too thrilled about the animals. This one is simpler but it makes the point.

And to m2's suggestion that I take Jasper, IN off of it, it is just a private label that I intend to sell locally. I can always get a more generic label outside of my local area. Regional labels work.

Just one thing. I think you might be a little too worried about offending small segments of the market base. Just remember, in order for you to get any attention, you're going to have to stand out. And in standing out, you're bound to offend someone.

Oh, and you're spot on about Mtool's idea of striking Jasper from the label. Hometown pride goes a long way when it comes to specialty sauces.

Whatever label you choose, good luck. And I'll be wanting to place an order sometime this summer after I get moved into the new house and can start some grilling. So keep advertising here.

Tell us what general info and imagery you'd like to see on your label and I can gear my next design around that. I just put all of the information you had on your label that you had on Ebay.

Also for clarification...the name of your product is "Brent's BBQ Sauce" or are you going with something else?

I have friends and family, some of which are in the marketing industry, who I have sent these to for comments. They are all spread out across the country, but I value their opinions so I solicited feedback.

General info and imagery with the grill above is right on. Of course, the family business is turkey. If you've had Boar's Head turkey, you've had our turkey. I think it would be cool to put turkey as well as beef, pork and chicken. Clutter is a concern, but having turkey on there too would be nice, especially locally. Also, the little "squiggly" (whatever it is called) on the Q in BBQ on your design looks kind of like a jalapeno. I put jalapeno in all 3 of my varieties, mild, med and hot. Not sure if there is something you can do to make that look a little more like a jalapeno with color or anything, but it is a thought.

For now, yeah, Brent's BBQ Sauce is it. Like I said, labels can change. What's inside the jar isn't going to.

Putting the pepper on the Q is something I'll can include. That font choice was more was to look like something cooked, scorched or burned. That's where I had the branding idea initially. I wanted to use that text and "burn" onto a piece of meat.

With my designs, you can take or leave it...I'm a graphic designer by trade so these projects are fun for me. I'm not aware of her age but I'm going to assume Patsy has more experience in this field than I do...I hope to just give you some ideas to ponder and whether you want to use them or not is up to you.

I was trying to be a bit edgy with the animals. Wanted people to think "oh the cute animals are going to taste so good with this sauce!"

I also wanted to indicate it could be used for beef, pork or chicken in a creative way.

I'll think of more ideas if I get some time this weekend. Unfortunately, it's not looking like I'm gonna even have 5 minutes to myself! :(

That's cool...you didn't have to tell me your age and all that. I was just assuming I was the novice between the two of us. You seem to be good at what you do and I'm still learning as I go. It'll be 2 years at my company this June. I'm a lucky guy to have a very steady job as a design with benefits and opportunity for career growth in the future when all I have is an Associate's degree. I've really only been a "graphic designer" since my senior year of high school and I flunked out of one school because I couldn't handle the work entire college workload. I went the community college route and it's worked out great for me.

I know you're just giving her a little crap but we're just going by what Brent had on his label before. Plus, some BBQ sauces can be made specially for just ribs or chicken or whatever. A really good sauce should be able to go with anything though. If you make a product that is just good for one kind of meat...you're going to have a harder time selling it. You want to have people put your stuff on everything they grill and have them go back to the store and buy more of it when it's gone.

Trust me, there's much more than jalapeno that I put in to make it hot. Can't reveal all my secrets here though. I liked the font choice and putting a jalapeno on there may make it look stupid, but I am just curious as to what it looks like.

It reminds me of the Chili's logo. They use a pepper as the apostrophe.

Eck...wouldn't want someone to think of Chili's when seeing my BBQ sauce.

Oh, and patsy, for what it is worth, I, personally, thought the animals were ok. I had one person not know what the chicken was, but she is blonde. She thought it was a duck so there ya go.
