Well the Alberta conservatives do not really set their ambitions too high if a drunken hillbilly was the greatest thing since oil was discovered in Leduc...Just think how much more money and great Alberta would of been if they had a premier with half a brain instead of Klein.Liberal Leader Kevin Taft says Alberta's Tory government is in for a rough ride in the legislature in the first sitting since Ralph Klein retired as premier.
Taft says the Tories have no one close to Klein in terms of popularity.
He says Premier Ed Stelmach simply doesn't have the "political capital" that allowed Klein to be forgiven for his mistakes.
He says his opposition members are experienced, while Stelmach's new cabinet is full of rookies who have already made some controversial statements on oilsands exports and fees for using parks.
But a spokesman for the premier says Taft is sorely mistaken if he thinks there's "no Ed factor," pointing out Stelmach has been drawing hundreds of people to recent fundraising events.
The spring sitting of the legislature starts next week, and Taft says the opposition will be focusing on health care, housing, schools, energy royalties, and environmental concerns.
