Modest Mouse

Post by War Wagon »

Don't know much (ok, nothing) about this band, but I know that I like this catchy little tune. Heard it on the local "alternative" radio station, which is what I mainly listen to in the car as an "alternative" to hearing the classic rock stations play the same old shit for the umpteenth millioneth time.

Not sure what the video has to do with the song, but it's still pretty cool. Check it out.

They are from the U&L. Which means Dins is in your dome. Hope you're charging rent.

They left Seattle for Portland for the upgrade in music scene and nightlife...hard to hate on anyone for that.

Rumor has it, Johnny Marr has decided to become a full-time member, and make MM his main focus...but rumors are cheap.

Ain't no rumor. It's a done deal. That makes this his 700th band he's played in or something now.

yup. my sister sent me a link about it maybe a month ago. i can think of the Smiths, the the, the pretenders, solo project(s), and now MM.

Don't bet the rent on that one.

While Marr did an album, and I believe is currently touring with MM...when was the last time Marr spent more than a few weeks with any particular band...20 years ago?

No, the rumor is that he's planning on sticking it out for the long-haul. But don't hold your breath.

I can hardly wait for MM to schedule a plethora of local shows at a variety of killer venues, then decide to cancel all of them...that will be fresh, and a nice little par-for-the-course repeat of last year. And for this I say "fuck Modest Mouse." They want to live in Portland and be big-hipsters-about-town(which is cool with the thick-rimmed glasses, can't-decide-between hipster-and-goth, just-moved-here-from-the-midwest-and-got-a-minimum-wage-job-at-a-coffee-shop-with-that-college-degree crowd), but they don't actually want to do any shows in Portland...good luck with that, buddy. See how long you get to play the role of Joe Popular with that attitude...

So, to combat this, they hire a proven-over-decades complete fucking flake. Good luck with that, too.
