When I read our school district's policy on cell phones in school (basically, if you have 'em, we don't want to see or hear them during class...if we do, you get a warning, with a repeat showing resulting in it being sent to the office for your parents to retrieve) durinh homeroom, I was informed by one student that school was [ahem] "just like prison."

These little spoiled fuckers honestly think that they have the inalienable right to whip out their mp3-playing-text-messaging-camera phones during class and use them as they see fit...even during a test.

Oh...and when we actually confiscate the phones and send them to the office, we get to listen to some idiotic pissed-off parent lecture us about how it's "against the law" for us to confiscate the three-digit-priced item.

How the hell folks pulling food stamps and welfare manage to get each of their bastard kids "Razr" phones with text messaging is beyond me.

Why the surprise ??

I participate in a business to school partnership program. I teach a class on marketing and business about 1 or 2 times a month. Last week, I taught a class on marketing to juniors and seniors. During the class time...while I was trying to teach the agreed upon subject matter:

5 of 19 kids sat texting the whole fucking time.
3 were eating a sandwhich, 4 were drinking soda,
3 girls were passing "He fucked me so good " notes all class time,
Some dwebe intern fuck barged in and interupted me twice..

Now color me (real) old school, but

eating in class
using electronic devices
passing notes, drinking soda

was all shit that got you ran from class and sent to the principals office.

No fucking wonder these little bastards can't fucking learn.. they don't pay the fuck attention during class...they spend all their time hooking up on MySpace, texting in classs ???? Give me a mother fucking break.

Oh, and the marketing plan the little cocksuckers were supposed to come up with...only 40% complete at due date...give me something I can work with you fucks... you asked for it ..!!

I am glad I will be dirt napping when these fucks have control...

I'm sure that, eventually, these kids will turn out fine. Hell, if they weren't self-absorbed, pretentious, obnoxious, rambling chatterboxes, they wouldn't be teens. We were all that way once.

However, thanks to all the incredibly stupid "self-esteem building" bullshit this generation of kids were raised under at home and school until this point, the kids I see honestly feel as though they are each deserving of the world's special favors merely because these children have graced us with their presence. Any positive evaluations of their behavior or work by a teacher is taken by them (and their parents) as Gospel, while any negative evaluation just must prove the teacher's bias or incompetence....even if the same teacher gave both sets of comments over the course of the semester (e.g., if the kid started screwing off).

Any parent who buys their teenager a top of the line cell phone with mp3 abilities and text messaging is a moron and piss-poor parent. They carve that evaluation in stone when they are stupid enough to express outrage that their offspring had that device confiscated for texting to their buddies during class.

My kids don't text message, but they were receiving messages so I called Verizon and had them turn off the text messaging altogether.

I refuse to buy my sophomore spoiled brat daughter a cell, no mater how much she begs. She's damn lucky we got her an ipod, which, ofcourse, I had to retrieve from the office once, already. She has been told that the next time, it will sit there awhile.
