Faced With Facts, McCain Denies His Own Straight Talk

Yesterday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) told CNN that that President Bush’s escalation in Iraq is going so well, “General Petraeus goes out there almost every day in an unarmed humvee.” On Monday, he told radio host Bill Bennett that there “are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods, today.”

This morning, during an interview with McCain, CNN’s John Roberts rebutted McCain’s assertions, stating, “I checked with General Petraeus’s people overnight and they said he never goes out in anything less than an up-armored humvee.” He added that a new report by retired Gen. Barry McCaffrey “said no Iraqi government official, coalition soldier, diplomat reporter could walk the streets of Baghdad without heavily armed protection.”

Faced with overwhelming evidence that he was wrong, McCain denied he’d ever said it: “Well, I’m not saying they could go without protection. The President goes around America with protection. So, certainly I didn’t say that.

Gee, I wonder if the lying will get any worse if he's elected?

McCain is a non-starter. He's kicking his own ass so well, he will probably be spared the lancing he'll get at the hands of his primary opponents over his role in the Keating 5.

John is a POW hero. It's a shame to see him floundering so piteously in his senatorial capacity.

Just think how badass his foreign policy would be, though.

I mean, look at how the MLB players are cowering in fear of his wrath...I think Albert Pujols forearms almost lost a half inch this offseason.

McCain is almost 71. He would be the oldest president to ever be elected if the election was held right now.

Don't be surprised if we see that age as a strategy used against him. Who in hell wants a 73 year old in that high pressure job? Hell, it's tough enough for the 50 and 60 years olds to not let it run them down.

I dunno, Coods...you start mixing and matching the Stinkbreeds, and there may be some dire, unforseen consequences.

I'd say a better genetics experiment would be to cross-breed the mexicans with Asians...it's quite possible that the offspring could steal a car in 15 seconds flat, then crash it in a hopefully-fatal accident 2 blocks later.
