Ex-OU lineman critical of dismissal from team
Associated Press

TULSA, Okla. -- A former Oklahoma football player who was kicked off the team with former quarterback Rhett Bomar says he believes his dismissal was unfair.

"All I did was take cash. I didn't break any laws and I get kicked off the team, but there's people on the team that are breaking laws and failing drug tests and stuff like that, and there's nobody getting kicked off the team for that type of stuff."
-- J.D. Quinn

With Quinn at C, we are going to dominate the FCS division in the trenches this year. I saw him roaming around the tailgates during a game last year - he is a beast.

Sorry, bud...the Griz' reign of Big Sky terror is over...Glanville out front should have told you. Just be glad you don't visit the New House Of Pain this season.

Elvis jokes, Johnny Cash jokes...it's all fair game in my book.

Shaping up to be a fun Big Sky season upcoming. I'm sure I'll be catching a game or two downtown this fall. Nice to not have to travel to see a decent football game, which is the drawback to being a football lover in Portland.

Looking forward to the Griz game in 2008, even. What a bunch Grizfan is...of the ~20,000 seats in PGE Park, Grizfan will occupy between 4-5 thousand of them...and it's at least a 10+ hour drive from there. Grizfan is pretty passionate about their D1AA ball, for sure.

I don't know if hiring that ancient mouthpiece and a carbon-dated OC is going to get PSU as much run as you think. But I guess Eddie Robinson isn't available anymore so whaddya gonna do? But I like the attitude; anything that even LOOKS like an improvement to the competitive balance is better the Commish Fullerton's notions of what constitutes raising the conference's profile (punterfights at Northern Colorado notwithstanding).

The real loser here is Elvis. He went from Hawaii tickets to Portland State tickets. Don't worry though - 2nd place in the Big Sky is still good enough to make the playoffs.

That's my thoughts. The Big Sky being a 1.5 horse race every season is kind of old.

But, I do think that having a "name" like Glanville will help quite a bit with recruiting. As it was, a lot of the types of local players who were D1AA material were heading off to greener pastures, and I think someone like Glanville can keep them at home. Heck, it could even become a "go-to" destination for those second-tier players from elsewhere, since few schools at the D1AA level can compete with what the PSU campus has to offer.

I'd be talking up their bitchin-badass QB recruit from across the street at Lincoln HS, if I could just remember his name...stellar memory on my part, since he was the state player-of-the-year, season-before-last.

I'd probably lay down some smack and call you nasty names, but PSU (and I'm sure all Big Sky fans, sans Montana State) have much respect for Grizfan. May not be the Big Time, but it's a fun conference to follow, and the Griz are the main reason why.

But...you've officially been put on notice.

Cool. Actually, out of all the teams from the Big Sky that might someday make the jump to I-A (or whatever they're calling it today) Portland State is a much more likely candidate than Montana. We have neither the population, location or local corporate base to pull it off. Also, winning seasons and playoff appearances are very important to the people there. Most don't want to see it fucked with by moving up a division (see also: Idaho). Some do, but it won't happen anytime soon.
