They can take away my Heisman? Shit, then let's go ahead and pay them off and shut them up.

It wasn't a fancy house, it was just a regular old 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house and the family didnt move in to that house until september of Reggies Jr year, 2 months later reggies step dad is telling a National TV audiance that Reggie should go pro at the end of the year.Sudden Sam wrote:Bama was punished (partly) because a booster paid a high school coach to push his player toward Alabama. I'm not excusing that...just saying it's no worse than an agent providing a fancy home for a kid's family while that kid attends school.SoCalTrjn wrote:The difference is a booster would pay a player or his family to go to a school and play for that school, an agent pays a player or his family to leave the school
the sneezing chick was better. but, yeah to Indy's point.Sudden Sam wrote:Because his avatar is distracting?IndyFrisco wrote:I don't see why anyone replies to schmick anymore.

Off the subject matter, but have you ever heard Nick Cave do 'Stagger Lee'? GEEEZUS! Whoa.
So then Charlie Weiss knows what ever single player at Notre Dames parents are paying for rent and if it is above or below market value?Killian wrote:So this agent also puts up regular USC students for below market rates? No? Then it's a fucking issue. Bush was taking improper benefits while at USC. Do you think the people outside of Houston who worked for Aurther Andersen knew what those shitheels were doing with Enron? No, but they all were punished because there was a system in place and one didn't follow the rules. USC should know where their athletes are staying, and what they are paying. USC sucks at due diligence.
Do you really find it that hard to learn how to spell Weis's name correctly? And to your question, yes. First of all, it's much easier at Notre Dame considering most of the players live on campus and those that don't, have limited places to go. But even at bigger schools, it's not hard to know exactly how much players are paying in rent. All it takes is a call to the landlord. And when the coaches are recruiting these players, they get a pretty good idea of what these players are coming from. Hell, they could find out from the admissions office if they really wanted to.SoCalTrjn wrote: So then Charlie Weiss knows what ever single player at Notre Dames parents are paying for rent and if it is above or below market value?
Are you saying that part of playing any sport at a division 1 school means that the school needs to know all the particulars of the players families life? You going to start sanctioning schools who have parents or siblings who are addicts, living on welfare, evading their taxes, owe child support/alimony?
I know this is hard for you to understand, but if a player takes any benefits from ANYONE while in school, it's a violation. That kid is not eligible to play. And the agent didn't give him benefits to convince Bush to leave school. He gave him shit so he would be Bush's agent when he did leave school.SoCalTrjn" wrote:Bush's family was allegedly given benfits to get their kid to leave USC and go to the NFL, they didnt receive the benefits so Reggie would go to USC.
Seems that USC was already hurt by losing Bush's services for another year. With Reggie, the Trojans likely played in another BCS title game, without him they had to settle for beating up on michigan again
If the kid is dumb enough to accept it, absofuckingloutly. I don't seem to recal Notre Dame having this issue when Rocket Ismail was going to school there. Michigan didn't have it with Drew Henson. VaTech didn't have it with Michael Vick. So, what was your point again?SoCalTrjn wrote:Forget that its Reggie Bush, forget that its USC
Say some school, maybe the one you support, has one of the greatest players in the nation, some shady agent comes along and gets the player to leave the school early by giving benefits to the players family. You think that is the fault of the school and that the school should be punished?
It would help if your coach limited the "parasites" and didn't allow them to hang out at practices. But hey, that's part of Hollywood Pete and the limelight, isn't? And why the fuck should the NFL have to refund any part of a scholarship? It's a one year, renewable deal so the schools aren't losing any money on the deal.SoCalTrjn wrote:The NCAA should work with the NFL (since its the NFLs minor league anyway) and when a player leaves a school early for the NFL, the NFL should send how ever many years worth of college eligibility that player had out of that players salary and send it back to the school. On top of that the NFL should disallow any agent that contacts a player before the player declares for the draft from having anything to do with the NFL, that person can not profit off the player and can lose any ability to deal with the league, you take away the mtivation for these parasites to prey on college players and their families
Just a minor point of contention, but I know that when I was a student, the scholarship players all were required to live on campus, and room and board was part of the scholarship. I suppose it's possible that ND has changed that, but I haven't heard that they have. Of course, a requirement like that makes it a little easier to abide by the NCAA rules.Killian wrote: And to your question, yes. Sam, Van quit posting on the internets awhile back. YWIA.Sudden Sam wrote:Sorry, Van. It's nasty and it's out there, but you're gonna get away with it.
The NFL wouldnt be paying the money back, they NFL would be subtracting the cost of the scholarship from the players salary/signing bonus and giving it back to the schoolKillian wrote: And why the fuck should the NFL have to refund any part of a scholarship? Only because there's motion in it. That girl is damn near the opposite of attractive. Maybe if she dropped a couple dozen cup sizes...Sudden Sam wrote:Because his avatar is distracting?IndyFrisco wrote:I don't see why anyone replies to schmick anymore.
