It depends what you expect from the service. I work for AT&T and have not been very impressed with the Homezone deal. In a nutshell it combines Dish Network programming with DSL so the receiver is basically part of a home wireless network. You can stream live music or your Yahoo photo storage to your receiver and view and listen to them from your television. It also can connect you to Movielink and Akimbo to download thousands of movies or tv shows. At first I thought the huge On-Demand library would be cool, but Homezone is $9.99/ mo plus the videos available for download are priced individually as well. Pretty much it seems like you pay 10 bucks a month to view a photo slide show on your TV. Plus the Homezone receiver is a DVR unit so you will also have to pay the Dish Network DVR fee of $5.98. The only other cool thing about it you can log on to your DSL account from anywhere and check your program guide and remotely program the DVR function. Last I heard though it was still not available in HD. If your Dish signal is hosed then Homezone will do nothing to improve that. It is nothing more than a hybrid product of satellite and DSL. It is a stopgap measure for those areas that have not been turned up for AT&T U-Verse. Plus if you are an existing Dish customer you can not order AT&T Dish unless you cancel Dish for about 6 months. Also if you think this is a good service and you are being billed directly to Dish Network then they are also about to launch their own version of Homezone. Ordering through AT&T only gets you about a $5/mo discount and it is billed to your phone bill.

Oh yeah, you also must have a 2wire wireless gateway from AT&T. Homezone receiver is not supported by aftermarket wireless routers. The 2wire is 79.99, but they usually have rebates if you order one.
