Feb. 28th scared the beejeebers out of me 'tart. That hurt.
My call is that the fixed account is fixed at 3.45 % and that I won't lose a thing no matter what happens.
I'm a gambler, but unwar risking my hard earned retirement money on anything as suspect as the stock market.
I won't gamble with my retirement.

Seriously here, Wagon.
Talk to Scott.
You can place the money somewhere safe where it'll do better for you than 3.45%
Barely keeping pace with inflation.
That's not good.

The Dow closed today at 14,000 for the first time ever. Who the fuck saw this coming? And where does it go from here? Is there like a limit on how high this sumbitch can go, and has that been reached?
Oh, and I got back in stocks on July 5th after receiving my quarterly statement and seeing that I had gained like an entire 2.9% over the prior 3 month period.
Fuck me running for missing out on some healthy gains during that timeframe, but at least I did get a solid share of this latest rally.

Dunno, WW. What I do know is that my stocks are churning. Nvidia was up 1.03 for a bit Tuesday, at an all time high. I was nervous, however, as its growth was all in the first hour of the market's opening. You can never trust the first hour, I've found. If my stocks go up in the first hour, then they'll plummet for the day and vice versa. It ended up down about .20 for the day. Yesterday, it took a proverbial bath. Was down over 1.50 for a bit. Ended up doen .80. Today, little to nothing. Crazy market.

How am I doing so far, Wagon?
Memorial Day Levels
Dow - 13,507
Naz - 2,557
S&P - 1,515
My Predicted End of August Levels
Dow - 13,100 (-3% approx)
Naz - 2,440 (-4.5%)
S&P - 1,465 (-3.4%)
Actual End of August Levels
Dow - 13,357 (-1.1%)
Naz - 2596 (+1.5%)
S&P - 1,473 (-2.7%)
Looks like I did alright.
The Naz surprised me a bit by actually rising slightly over the last 3 months.
I called the down trend on the S&P and the Dow with fair accuracy, no?
I'll stand by the predictions I made for the rest of the year.
I think we hit the 'bottom' a couple of weeks ago and will see the markets rise moderately for the rest of the year.
The predictions I made at Memorial day might be too conservative, especially with the Naz already almost at the level I called for at year's end.
End of Year -Dec 31 (7 months)
Dow - 13910 (+3%)
Naz - 2620 (+2.5%)
S&P - 1555 (+2.7%)

poptarts' Predicted End of Year Levels -Dec 31 (7 months)

Actual Levels

I was off on the Dow by 5% -- C+ prediction
Off on the NAZ by just 1.2% -- A- prediction
Off on the S&P by just .4% -- A prediction
Overall prediction grade -- B+
RACK me!
For what it's worth -- less than Whitey's left nut -- I see all the U.S. markets rising moderately for the first 3 or 4 months of '08.
We'll hit a bad stretch late spring to early summer.
Then up and down a bit until late year, when the markets will soar.
Overall, a slightly above average year for U.S. markets in '08.
