As I've always said, no coach is trustworthy.

They're just the same as me and you. It's a job. If someone throws more money at you and/or you'll be happier elsewhere, wouldn't you pull the trigger? Why should they be held to a different standard?

It's the "say one thing and do another" thing I'm talking about. I don't do that.

Lack of character if you ask me. If he's in doubt, he's probably not ready for the Bigs. Stay in G-ville little Billy.

While I disagree with the waffle but you can hardly fault a man for staying with his heart.

I thought he was only about the money and that has changed.

It's being reported that Orlando will release him from his contract.

I really wonder about a guy who signs for the dough first, and thinks it over later. Puss move. I actually think that leaving UF at this time (too late for a thorough coaching search, possible signee departures) was the wrong way to go as well. But if it's the money, go. If it's your heart, stay...just not both. Fucking puss move.

puss=TWO TIME NATIONAL DEFENDING CHAMP

Whatever.

Two time defending champs or not, it is a puss move.

I wonder how much of this decision was due to his wife, who apparently wasn't too enthusiastic about the move in the first place.

orlando should of made him pay millions to get out of his contract

the gates prez was all for a football playoff too before he went to the SEC spring meeting and they had to remind him that the gates won the mnc this year. Then he changed his mind and said "yaaaa..BCS...#1...me love you long time...suckky sucky"

fuck the gates all of them are flip floping pussies

Hell look at trix.

Before 06 season:
"I am never going to post in the CFB forum again"

After this years championship:
"YEAH! I told yall! I am the best! Chump-n-chip! We have the chump-n-chip! I am the greatest poster alive!"

if florida had any credibility, they tell him to go get fucked

now the vcu coach gets fucked out of a gig, and now hes under pressure, as he was ready to bolt. ad's dont forgit that shit

orlando should of made him sign a noncompete clause to get out of the deal, which stated he could not coach at any other college or pro team other than florida for 5 years. then florida voids his contract or fires him, he then is fucked. talk about irony

After reading countless articles and quotes online I feel the Magic are part to blame for this fiasco by pressuring him to make a quick decision. Billy even says his HEART is in G-ville at the Magic press conference. Duh?

Who hires an assistant coach on a Tuesday and takes a new job on Wednesday. Weisbrod prodded a quick decision. That's what you get.

Way to go Magic front office another black eye on a crappy led team.

Shaq? Penny? Get a broken Hill? Screw up after screw up. WOrst front office in all of sports. Don't want to pay Shaq $100 million? They deserve all they get.

Didn't see that gun against his head.

So it's the Magic's fault that they offered to double dude's pay, he agreed, signed his name to it, and then showed a complete lack of any character buy going back on his word?

Whose fault is it that you're a fucking idiot? Not yours, I'm sure.

No matter how this shakes out, Donovan loses cred because of the reports about him waffling on his decision. Make a clean break and allow the Gators to move on. Or get out of the deal now and mend your fences with Florida and allow the Magic to start looking for another option. It's not fair for him to hold two teams hostage right now because he can't make up his mind.

That's why they have laws in effect for timeshares....you have something like 3 days to back out......its no surprise that this is from the people who own amway.

Buyers remorse has nothing to do with an egomaniac signing for the big money and bailing.

Total puss move.

Jmho, but a non-compete clause with those terms probably wouldn't be enforceable in court.

Florida should cut their ties with B. Donovan. He's gone at some point, it just isn't today. He's obviously interested in other positions and challenges, he just decided this wasn't the right moment, but it WILL come along and then he'll leave. Will it be next week? Next year? Three years? Who freakin' knows, it could be any of those, but he will leave for another job, he's made that crystal clear.

As a Kansas fan, I've been down this road three times with coaches. Once with Larry Brown who accepted and turned down UCLA but then just months later bolted for the San Antonio Spurs......not a big problem, everybody knew Larry was a job-hopper and he had just won a National Title. Second with Glen Mason the football coach who accepted a job at Georgia and then changed his mind and came back to Kansas.....of course he left shortly thereafter for Minnesota of all places. And finally our much heralded saga with Ole Roy. Although Roy didn't leave the first time, it was obvious he was looking and very, very interested.

Now, I don't blame the coaches, they are going to do what is best for them, and they should. BUT, if I was running things at Florida (and I'm sure you Gator fans are quite glad I'm not!) :) Then I would not take Donovan back, I'd tell him he made his decision and the Florida Gators are moving on. I'd tell him we wanted somebody who was interested in our job to be our basketball coach. Maybe it's cold and it wouldn't be popular, but I think the Gators would be better served by cutting the cord right now.

mook: Great points and that sentiment is echoed through some of Gatordom. He left...period. I still say he was sold a bill of goods that wasn't/ Orlando is a shit franchise KNOWN for big mistakes. It's in proximity to G-Ville....and that's it. They let Shaq, Penny, McGrady, Ben Wallace all leave......they suck. I don't blame Donovan for wanting to reach the pinnacle of his job.....ie coaching in the NBA. BUT, I have always thought he was a college coach. His systems are college and I really don't think they are suited for the NBA. JMO.

there's an ESPN article up saying that if they let Donovon out of the Magic deal he can't coach in the NBA for 5 years.

which seems pretty pissy to me.

Posted: Tue Jun 05, 2007 6:51 pm
by Mr T
I dont. I would make it 10 years, so by the time the 10 years ended he would be completely irrelevant to the NBA.

Fuck. You signed a fucking contract. Who cares if the team sucks, he was right next to the damn team the whole time coaching in queersville. He knew what he was getting into and just pussed out.

I am with mook. If I was a gate....uhhh well I would probably think trix logic and think this is the greatest thing ever. But if this happened at FSU I wouldnt want him back. He left.

Well fine then your fucking coach is not only a pussy but an idiot for not looking before leaping.

But I am pretty sure he knew what he wanted, money and fame. He got the fame...he is now the poster boy for pussies all around like yourself.

Are you honestly saying that Donovan was too stupid to research the team, facilities, and management when he was making this decision? Your inability to criticize anything Florida (unless it's Zook) is comical and depressing.
