Do you suspend Alfredsson?

Post by MuchoBulls »

Blatantly shot the puck at Neidermayer. Not as bad as Pronger's elbow, but certainly an intent to injure there.

He's a liar if he says he wasn't aiming at Niedermayer. He was the same guy earlier in that shift that whistled a shot just over the net. If he intended on aiming at Giguere in the net, he wouldn't have hit Niedermayer the way he did. Especially when you consider he was out of the line of fire...at least he thought was.

Suspension? Hard to say...I wouldn't do it as a makeup for having Pronger sit out. I think it was just a chicken shit move by a guy that a lot of people have lost some respect for. Pronger's play was more dangerous...Alfredsson's move was classless. You don't really suspend guys for classless moves. Where's Chelios' fine/suspension for not going in the handshake line after the Anaheim series?

You're not serious with that question are you?

Pronger's hit was classless and a blatant intent to injure. Same can be said about Alfredsson even though it was an entirely different way to go about it.

What I'm saying is that Alfredsson's actions with shooting at Niedermayer was classless and disrespectful just like skipping the handshake line. Had he hit Niedermayer in the face with the shot and badly injured him, I think he does get a suspension. Certain things will probably go unpunished unless the victim is injured. That seems to be the way the league hands out punishment. Since Niedermayer didn't get hurt, Alfredsson will probably get away with this. It'll just make the handshake line after Game 5 a little more interesting.

As for Pronger, he put up his flipper and caught McAmmond just right and knocked him out when they made contact. He went headhunting on Holmstrom with that hit in Game 3 against Detroit...a much more blatant intent to injure. Especially when the Wings were embarrassing them on home ice and it seemed like they were taking the momentum in the series.

Just because Neidermayer wasn't hurt shouldn't take away from the fact of what he attmepted to do. That is as close to the most gutless act a hockey player could commit as there is. This should not go unpunished. If it does, then I would love to see if the Ducks insert Parros into the lineup for Game 5.

if Pronger was suspended for his hit, Alfredson must be suspended for shooting the puck at Niedermayer.

I honestly dont care about Chelios not shaking hands, that shit should be saved for 5 year olds soccer games
