As our resident Hoosier...

Rumors are flying around the web. What are you hearing?

Hope he recovers, for himself, his family, and IU. It would be nice to see them build on the momentum he brought.

Hoeppner is a hell of a coach, I hope he can continue to lead Indiana to better things. I'm not that big on the whole "basketball" school thing. I think if Hoeppner delivers a winner fans and folks with money will support the program. They may not reach the Mich/tOSU plateau but they could become a top25 program.

the problem is hep might not coach again, and that would be optimisic considering what he is going through right now. t&p's all around, even from shithead, myopic purdue fans around here.

Hep is a good coach, but IU will remain a shit program. I can probably count the number of coaches you can truly count on and trust will stick to their word and their program in all of the big college sports on one hand. COllege coaches are nomads whether they are good coaches or bad. Hep is no different. He'd bail after a 9-4 season in a heartbeat. Still, best of luck to him. I go to most of the IU home games and it is at least refreshing to see a team compete longer than the initial kickoff.

Thread on Peegs says that Hep has passed this morning. No confirmation as of yet. He will be missed by the Hoosier family.

Haven't been on the board for awhile but with the passing of Coach Hep this morning I figured I'd jump on real quick to break the sad news. This is a truly sad day for the Hoosier nation as Coach Hep made an amazing impact on the community in his short tenure as head man in B-town. He had such passion for getting IU football back to a competitive level and not only that but building a fan base that didn't simply look at football season as the ramp up to basketball season. He will be missed and he will always have a special place in the thoughts and hearts of Hoosier fans everywhere.

Very tough day around here. I was playing golf with Shine last Friday and while talking about IU sports/Hoeppner, I told him I was a bigger football fan than basketball. "Don't Blaspheme!" I think was his reply. But while hoops is still king in these parts, Hoeppner gave Hoosier fans a glimpse of what football could be. He brought some hope to a program that hasn't had a whole lot to cheer about. I remember being in the Assembly Hall for a basketball game when he was introduced as head coach and from that moment on, he never stopped selling IU football. Great coach. Better man.

Sucks about Coach Hep. That was a great win for Indiana football against Iowa last year. Hopefully, they can keep the momentum going with another competitive season with inspiration from the late great Coach Hoeppner.

^^This game is on ESPN classic right now. Jon has Iowa as a lock of the decade in this one.

versus Elin Woods giving birth to my child and getting a mindblowing hummer from Kim Hiott at the same time.

Damn what a shame for IU and the Big Ten.

Randy Walker last year and now Coach Hoeppner. Both were good coaches but both were great men.

It would be a crying shame even if dude wasn't a hell of a coach, may he rest in peace.
