According to Pete Prisco

Champ Bailey is THE best defensive player in the league??
Hmmmmm ............

I'm pleased to see scrabble log in at #37.
Oakland can't afford to piss down their leg with him.
Git 'er done, Al.

I'm not sure about Carson Palmer at #5.
Seems a bit high to me.

Thoughts?

Champ's the best CB, but NOT the best defensive player....that would be S. Merriman. 17 sacks in 12 games?

'Nuff said.

As for the rest of the list, it's purely speculation and created for the sole purpose of heated debate.

Tony Gonzalez freefalling down and out...curious, I'm wondering if his sack time with our local news vamp Lauren Sanchez had anything to do with Tony's plummet????

Can you blame him if that's the reason?

Yes, now I could get with that.

It's very hard for me to get with the idea of an 'outside' player being rated as the BEST defensive player in the league.
If 'interior' guys are not getting the job done an outside guy ends up looking not so red hot.

Oakland has had, in it's history, a few CB's who were arguably the best CB in the league.
W. Brown, M. Haynes, L. Hayes, young Chuck Woodson .....
NEVER did I consider any of those guys to be the fourth best player in the entire league.
I would have laughed at it.

Myself, I'd have to slide Champ down the list by at least a half-dozen spots.

Again, just my opinion.

This moron really does hate the eagles. No Dawkins or Westbrook?

I laughed, then clicked the X

Dawkins didn't even make his 'just missed' list, although Westbrook did.

Eagle fan??
Where are you?

His list, much like his logic, is a joke.. he calls it his top 50 players in the NFL but says most are young, rising players who belong. So instead of making a list of the top 20 young rising stars in the NFL he includes them in this current 50? Image

Dawkins is still one of the 50 best players in the NFL.. despite his mileage he still manages to make huge plays all over the field. Some rookie CB has 1 big year and he's suddenly in the top 50? OK....

Steven Jackson should easily be in the top 10. It's a joke that Gore is in front him him. Westbrook's is one of the top 10 RB's in the league but since the list is top 50 for all positions, I can see why he is on the bubble.
