"I wanted to like USC but they play in the Pac-10 and it’s just a weak conference. I mean Cal is good every now and then, but other than that it’s not a strong conference. The Big-10 is just a ridiculously slow conference. They are big but slow and we saw that during the national championship last year."

Well...
Personally, I regard the Florida horse-whipping of OSU as a victory of scheme, not a victory of speed.
I was impressed with Meyer's approach. I think he really had OSU back on their heels, wondering what was coming next and how to defend against it.
Once a defense is forced to think too much on the field, the offense can really start to smack them in the piehole. IMO, that's exactly what happened - Florida succeeded on offense, and scored points - then they started pummeling the OSU line and ripping off big running gains.
OSU is as fast as any team can be. I disagree with the kid's analysis.
The smart guys from ESPN talked about speed in the Tennessee/PSU matchup, as well. The game played out a little differently. PSU actually moved the ball around to a lot of receivers, slowed the pursuit of the Vols, and then started punching them in the kisser.
So much in football relies on getting the jump on your opponent. I think "speed" - at least in the way the kid is using it - doesn't really do that concept justice.

Tressel did get out coached by a country mile though so lets keep things in perspective though. ;-)

It was David vs. Goliath.
This time, Goliath won.

No doubt about the outcoaching...never backed down from that at all when taking my lumps...
the vest wilted in the desert heat...
first time for everything though considering his BCS and Bowl record up until that point...

The Buckeyes were plenty quick and athletic...Florida had more dynamic athletes on both sides of the ball and Urban Meyer was more imaginative with his playcalling. The Big Ten isn't slow but it can be archaic at times.

Meyer's coaching placed Troy Smith in a position he wasn't good at - playing catchup. Krenzel was better at that kind of thing.
That's the kind of analysis (really, nothing special) you don't get from ESPN hacks who rattle on about "speed". This kid's statements show how, unfortunately, their limited frame of reference is contagious.

this statement is itself generalizable to many other non-sport spheres of mediated life, needless to say.
anyway, i thought the reason tOSU lost was the Big Ten's concentration on academics,

Big Ten Commish :P

I think those statements show who has gotten in his ear and who hasn't.
