What about Frank Thomas would have you call him a loser? 500 HomeRuns in 17 years is impressive, especially considering that he was injured for 3 years (2001, 2004 & 2005).

He averages 37 HomeRuns, 121 RBI with a .303 Batting Avg. every year. I haven't heard his name cup up in any Steroid allegations.

and as far as him getting tossed in a game where he hit his 500th. Hell, it shows he cares more about winning a game than he worries about STATS.

Although Thomas has not been described as a leader and a personality in the clubhouse people can warm up to, dude is a great ballplayer. Jack said it best, his stats are really impressive considering all of the injuries that plagued him for 2 years in a row. He deserves to go to the Hall.

When you play a sport with passion, you get into it and when an ump calls an obvious ball, a stike, it is not uncommon to look at that ump and say.."Are you Blind?"

... that is the wrong thing to say because ... you get tossed for saying that but it happens when you care about what you are doing..

I'll always respect Big Frank. When I was much younger, I lived basically right across the street from The White Sox's spring training stadium/minor league farm team in Sarasota, FL. Great times were had when my buds and I came early, and stayed late trying to get as many autographs as we could. Frank was ALWAYS one of the very few who signed before, and after games, and stayed as long as he could. I got four autographs from the guy one year. He was never a dick about it either, or acted like he was just doing it for PR.

Of course there were also some bigtime fuckheads like Jack McDowell who preferred to flip little kids off instead of just ignoring them.

You lived in "the hood"?!? 12th and Tuttle...where Ed Smith stadium is, is in the hood. For a point of reference, 17th st. is aka MLK. As y'all know, anytime you're on MLK, you're in the hood. It's good to know you come from such humble begginnings. So you went to Booker elementary or HS? Widely famous for being the location of GWB during the 9/11 attacks? That's the school district located "basically across the street" from the ballyard. So either you're full of shit, or you had a rough upbringing.

Not sure how or why this matters, just calling your bluff is all.

My parents are certainly more well off today than they were 10+ years ago, but I definitely wouldn't characterize where I lived as "the hood." There were worse places, to be sure, and much worse places in Sarasota alone.
