"What's sa'matter witch you guys? Business is business!"

ESPN makes the long "trek" from the east coast out to Berkeley to meet with Cal AD(Sandy Barbour) to reaffirm their commitment to the Cal vs. Tennessee game...

Then 4 days later... this?

what can you say?

No more Game Day Kool-Aid for me, thank you. Thought about it long and hard (well maybe about 5 minutes), and realized this whole Game Day hype and hoopla is just that. A group of lame-asses spouting off about little of depth or substance, cheesey gimmicks and not much of real interest to the average football fan.

Hello Fox Sports Net, CBS, or NBC, CNN, whoever, come on up to Berkeley on Saturday, September 1st. You'll find a compelling sports story that a fiction writer couldn't conceive of. It's got a cast of characters and sub-plots you wouldn't beleive, including :

-A traditional SEC football power traveling out west to do battle with a much maligned program hell bent on respect, redemption and revenge.

-A cast of characters right out of a Ken Kesey novel, including 60's radicals, rabid football fans, bumbling politicians, self-centered landowners, hippies, yippies, tree-huggers, enviro-extremists, tightwads, nobel prize winning scientists & scholars, exceptional athletes, a couple of mighty fine head football coaches, lawyers, judges, architects & engineers, seismologists, native americans, a governor called the Terminator...

-A setting perfect for a great story, including a legendary stadium sitting on a hillside in a famous city, with a gorgeous view overlooking the largest bay on the planet, the most beautiful bridge and one of the most beautiful cities in the world, a mix of sun and fog and wind at the edge of the vast Pacific Ocean.

-A unique and crazy side story, complete with oak trees and redwoods and hills, an earthquake fault primed and ready to let loose, sports fans, police and protesters, nudists and artists, all careening towards a defining moment in American history where the past, the present and the future all collide in a cacophony of conflicting ideals, values and interests.

-Oh, and there is a damn good football game to be played here too.

So go ahead you Ivy League suits up in Bristol. Make your decisions, do what you must do. This scene out here in the wild west will play out with or without you.

I didn't know Gameday was going to Kal... until I saw the topic title.

How lame. I have to root for the Golden Queers over the greater evil of the SEC.

Go KAL!
I got 99 problems but the 'vid ain't one
