We'll miss him for the Nevada game, the showdown with the wolfpack, and the contest against the state where Reno is. Way to lay the smack down BC.

i've bashed Callahan repeatedly.
and, by whatever mechanism, he had the chance to err on the side of putting Mo on the field.....
my hat is off to Bill Callahan.
when i travel the conference boards and see NU fan claiming the only way OU or CU or KSU could beat them was by cheating or less than honorable player arrangements....or that NU didn't have highly recruited recruits....even though Switzer beat Dr. Tom at least 4 times with lesser talent.....i wonder about the media in Lincoln/Omaha.

Sorry Crimson but I gotta call bullshit on Switzer repeately beating TO with lesser talent. Switzer was an awesome recruiter that could fill-up on Texas studs. TO had a lot of guys that redshirted and built-up in what used to be easily the best S&C program in the country. Neb was not long on pure studs, definitely having less than OU anyway.

that's a story/myth you guys like to tell yourself. a bunch of earnest god-fearing underachievers while Switzer was pulling in thugs. OU had a lot of players from Oklahoma too. Rozier, Craig, Gill, Frazier, Fryer, Wistroms, Phillips, Frost, Broderick Taylor, etc.....these are not Nebraska kids. c'mon.
so you think it's BS that Switzer beat Osborne as an underdog/lesser talent? in Lincoln. who was favored?
i bet it's at least 4 times in the 12-5-1 record.

Re: Purify gets PUNISHED

There's a reason he wasn't offered... when he was right across the STREET!

Uhhhh, yeah
If Callahan had any "character"... Purify wouldn't even be on the team.
Correct me if I'm wrong? But this wasn't the first incident Purify's had at Nebraska, is it???
I don't see your argument. I guarantee Neb had a higher percentage of their players from in-state than OU did and Neb didn't have a Texas next-door to pull out-of-state recruits out from.
Where did I say Switzer was playing thugs? Where did I mention scandal, probation, or whatever? I just said his guys had more talent. And on-average they did. Do you have any idea how many walk-ons Neb put out there? Hell our defenses were loaded with walk-ons back in the day.
You are noting Neb players that were here over a few years. Craig, Fryar, Rozier, and Gill all played together. They are not representative of Neb's overall talent level over the two Switzer/Osborne decades.
Plus it should be noted when Neb had that big talent in the early 80's and mid90's they had elite teams. Back in the early 90's(after getting tired of repeatedly losing to the Miamis and FSU's in bowls) when Neb finally changed recruiting strategies(and I'll admit defensive strategy as well) and got us loaded with studs on either side of the ball Neb became the hands-down dominant team in the country. That says it all about Osborne. When we had major talent we were as good as anyone.
I'm not saying Switzer wasn't a great coach, he definitely was a hall-of-famer. But he also had more to work with than TO on-average during the time they shared. I'm not saying Barry was inferior to Osborne, I think they were approximately equal and the difference in the records reflects OU's athleticism.

and don't fall into the trap thinking that because OU had some really fast "brothers" in the 70's that that is the only definition of talent.
your "example" of changing recruiting strategies in the 90's would be the second time Dr. Tom did that. when OU's pulling guards and pitch back are beating your lb to the corner, you start recruiting speed.
I'm a big fan of Osborne. i really am. I think think your current coach is a self-serving jerk who has almost no respect for the college game or NU tradition, really. except insofar as it reflects on him.
except for one game a year, you guys were by far my favorite team as a kid and into the late 90's.
i think there is more to it than "athleticism". but, hey. i don't think in 87 or 86 OU had more "athleticism". and OU won both games in Lincoln.
i can't think of one time Tom won in Norman when OU was favored. Switzer must have done the opposite at least 5 times.

Hey Danimal, where's the hottie? You're fucking useless without the hottie.
Whew! I'm sure he's glad that's over and done with. Now he can get back to getting his Cali nog groove on in Lincoln fucking Nebraska...
And all the Husker faithful said, "Amen and amen".
Wow, an entire six weeks? It had to be really tough on that boy to follow rules and not break laws for an entire six weeks."I believe that he has made a sincere effort to redeem himself and move forward in a positive direction," Callahan said in a prepared statement. "During his suspension from our program these past six weeks he has complied with all of the requirements imposed upon him by the legal system...

don't get too ahead of yourself. Danimal posted the original thread....and criticized the disciplinary move/not move.

im actually shocked he wasnt suspended a week or 2 before the MU game. That would of kinda been a lame ass suspension, but ya can actually sorta go along with it, but that suspension is a joke.
it cries,"win at all costs" especially with the wr nebraska has, it dramatically drops after purify. Without him, they have ZERO shot to beat MU or USC. With him they have a threat that can give their running game some room. but whatever, i dont care what nebraska does, its MUs North to lose.
their schedule sets up for a 9-3 or better regular season record. It's Stinkels to lose.
ps someone needs to start a Big12 thread, keep the smack and talk in there, not 300 threads.

I think we could take MU without Purify, USC is a tougher nut to crack. We do have a couple of very credible wr's other than Purify that have significant experience and it isn't like Mizzou has that great of a D. But we'll have to bring-it for 4-quarters, which we have obviously failed to do the last two trips to Columbia.
Unfortunately this Purify-situation does reek of a "win at all costs" attitude. Just missing the Nevada game after two legal incidents is very weak. I told folks so over on huskerconnection.com. Some agreed but too many others just put on their red-colored glasses and hit rationalization mode. A lot of the same dips that rationalize this are the ones starting threads any time somebody from KSU or wherever gets in trouble, what a bunch of hypocrites.
Oh, and here is a hottie since I've gotten lazy about that.
