Priest reporting to training camp

WTF?
Dude hasn't played or been around the team in almost two years, instead content to hang out in Texas and continue to draw a paycheck.
Now he's ready to strap it back on and get back to work?
This makes no sense whatsoever. KC should've released him long ago. The only thing I can figure is that Carl is going to use Priest as some leverage against LJ and his impending hold-out from camp, waiting for his bazillions . At 34, there's just no way I can see him returning to his former glory, or even close.
There just aren't enough snaps for both of these guys, and no way thay can co-exist in the same backfield.
Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Intersting...
"Since joining the Chiefs in 2001, the 5-foot-9, 213-pound Holmes ranks first in the NFL by averaging 97.3 yards per game and 136 yards from scrimmage. He also is an accomplished blocker and pass-catcher."
You mean it's not LaTo? That should be enough to get bolt fans talking....
It's a good move in leadership standpoint for the team but I cannot see him pushing Johnson for any significant playing time.
Didn't they hold on to him for cap reasons?

I laffed.
The only "team" he was ever concerned about was Team Priest.
Whenever you hear about any high profile athlete or coach mouthing the words "team", you know right there it's bullshit. These guys are out for how much money they can
gouge make, period, and don't give two shits about the team they
swindle get it from.
Not that there's anything
wrong with that. Take what you can get from the "Man" (stfu -Risa) while you can.
But I guess this is why an arrogant asshole like King Carl has been allowed to pinch the purse strings around here for so long w/o delivering a championship. He grinds that organ and makes those monkeys
earn what they can pick up off the sidewalk.

Not really sure, but I'll say this about Carl. Once you're one of his "boys", you'll be taken care of regardless of circumstance. Priest is Carl's boy.
We'll see how it pans out.

Definitely throws a monkey wrench into LJ's contract negotiations, doesn't it?

I agree.
Shortly after Oakland hired Lane Kiffin he was asked what motivates today's athlete.
Without hesitation, he answered, ..... money.
He then elaborated a bit, saying that the trick is to get the players to realize that through the overall success of the TEAM, they can more easily land the big payday that they are so motivated to have.
I liked his answer a lot, because coaches do nobody a service by paying lip service to some other fantasy motivation, when us fans are well aware that it IS money that is the big motivator for these guys.

Why would it? Priest is 34 and coming back from a near-career ending neck injury. He might get 10-12 carries a game if he's even able to win the back-up job in camp.
Priest knows his days in KC are probably over. It's obvious that he's hoping he might open some eyes of other NFL teams and catch on as a veteran backup.

The only serious red flag I have in the whole situation is his longtime trainer is on record stating Priest hasn't been working out all this time.
Had that been the case, I'd really have no problems with it. Sure, having LJ hold out sucks ... no denying that; however, there aren't a lot of miles on Priest's 34 years. I look back at players like Marcus Allen and Jon Riggins, both of whom a enjoyed considerable amount of success after mid-30 comebacks.
That said, if he hasn't been keeping himself in shape, I might as well be talking about suiting up for training camp myself, here. It will take at least all of training camp to get him close enough to game shape to make any sort of accurate read, and I doubt you'll see him garner enough carries in any preseason game to do that, anyway, for fear of injury.
So, Carl has a bullet in the chamber, and nobody really knows if it will fire should he need it down the road. All things considered, it's acutally not the worst position to be in, if you ask me.
[wags]Will be interesting to see how this plays out.[/wags]

If he can get into reasonable shape, the thought of him and LJ in the backfield at the same time would give Arrowhead collective wood.

This offensive line is a HUGE question mark to be sure- they could either end up being VERY good or VERY bad. We'll know in about a month or so.

True, but even with Croyle as the starting QB, even with question marks in the backfield, a shitty receiving corps and a defense that's in rebuilding mode -- to say the least -- there's no
possible way KC can suck as horribly as you guys did this last year.
So we've got that going for us.

That's true.
As it looks right now, I'm seeing KC as a 6 or 7 win team.
If things go REALLY well that might jump up to 9 or 10 wins.
If things go TOTALLY in the tank, it might drop to 4 or 5 wins.
I'll make a call later, and I'll prolly bet $20 with Paul and Scott on the Raiduhs v. Chefs season record again ...... if they're game.

I'm game.
I wouldn't mind adding some poptart money to the list of delusional 'duh fans I've hustled over the years.
I've noticed, though, that the price keeps going down on that wager as 'duh fans optimism shrinks inversely compared to their enlarged prostates and plungered colons.

Hell, pop, maybe we can have a bet.
Chiefs make the playoffs and I send you the first season of "Heroes," they don't and you send me 20 hours worth of Korean lesbian porn. Cool?

I'm sure there is hot Korean p0rn floating around in some dark corner of this society, but there are NO smut rags or films for sale anywhere that I have seen.
Lookie, I toss my line out and get bites immediately.
Folks just itchin' for some fooootball, it seems.
For what it's worth, I'll put a good word in for Paul.
Pretty classy move on his part last season.
I PMed him for his address to mail him his winnings and he told me to forget about it.
He said I suffered enough already with the 2-14 nightmare season.
He had accepted his winnings from me the previous two seasons, I believe it was, but let last year slide, as a goodwill sympathy gesture.
Scott took his winnings, and of course I would have done the same thing.
But Paul, nice show.
You're a good fella.

That's just great, Paul.
Hey, here's an idea. Let's everyone get in full force slaver over the upcoming season, make ridiculous bets, and then when it comes time to back up those mighty words... just say nevermind.
Yeah, that's the kinda' accountability I want up in this nitch.

Nah, fuck that.

Good for a make believe Roobin sammitch at the Deli of your choice.

It was?
I thought I was going to puke.
So, when this unlikely, sordid love triangle posture and wager on the upcoming season, we'll know what to expect when it comes time to settle accounts.
Paulio, if there were any way for me to consider you a bigger putz than you've already proven to be, it would be letting a 'duh fan snagged fair and square off the hook.
And for you pussy 'duh fans who were allowed to weasel out of straight up bet, you should be ashamed of yourself. You both OWE Paul, and you better settle that account, regardless of that dumbshit forgiving your debt. It's not forgiven.
How you've managed to live with yourself is beyond me. You've given Paul ultimate fucking 'bode over your ass for a $20 bill.
