The only band I really want to see before I die is Pink Floyd. I will go where ever they play to see them before I die.

I am kicking myself over a concert I missed in Abilene, Texas in May of 1990. My then girlfirend and I got in a fight and ended up missing Stevie Ray Vaughn. After we made up she said we could go see him that fall in Austin. Stupid Bitch! I never forgave her for that.

i was driving through the the Texas panhandle the day SRV died.

funny thing, the only radio station you can get out there played a couple Neil Young songs in a row...and i said to myself, out loud, "maybe Neil Young died....."

i'm happy i saw a bunch of old blues guys in the 90's before they died.

*truly an unreal show in a small club venue. fuck. it was unreal. i talked to his band after the show, and they said he was "God". ripped everything. they were in awe after every show: "it's different every night". second guitar guy says to me: "how can anyone play that shit? he's everywhere. when he's out, he's in. we don't know."

I'm determined to see the Black Crowes...probably next summer when they go on their next big tour around the time they release their next studio album.

The difference between being 18 and 36 are huge. Looking back, I should have told her to fuck herself and headed to Abilene. I would have saved half my shit.

Somewhere, my photographer buddy has pics of us wearing our Floyd shirts, still doped up the next day, sitting on and posing around the pig statue on Pike Street, which was pretty symbolically epic.

After seeing Roger Waters on his most recent tour, I have no doubt that a Pink Floyd reunion would be nothing less than epic, even at their advanced ages. I was willing to give Waters the benefit of the doubt just because, well, he's Roger FUCKING Waters, but he sounded fantastic.

One of my college roommates grew up in New Jersey. In the mid 1960’s his father took him to see the Monkees in concert. The backup act featured a skinny black guitarist from the U & L. Jimi Fucking Hendrix.

I'd be willing to bet you're wrong. With the exception of Architecture in Helsinki, there is not a single show on that list that comes in for under $30.00 on Ticketmaster's site. Factor in also that I am married, so I'd have to include the wife, and include also the cost to drive to venues because the people who book shows in Rochester still think REO Speedwagon is cutting edge and you're talking about spending over $100 to see a show. Fuck that.

Saw dada last week, and last night saw (and afterwards met) The Yardbirds in Annapolis. Oh, sure, there are only two original members left (Jim McCarty & Chris Dreja), but the vocalist sounds uncannily like Keith Relf, and the guitarist (Ben King), while no Clapton, Beck, or Page, still is no embarrassment.

And he's not the only top-40 recording artist I've threatened to beat up when I was tanked... because that is how I roll.

While I can't say that I've threatened to open a can of whupass on any musicians ('cuz that ain't how I roll), I've been on the receiving end of 'tude a few times. Like when I was attending broadcasting school, and tried to conduct an impromptu interview w/ Tom Petty for an assignment. The Everly Brothers were getting their star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, and I attended the ceremony with the intent of interviewing one or both of them. After the official festivities were over, the Everlys were mugging for photos w/ fans, so it wasn't convenient to try to talk to them. But Petty was walking to his limo through the lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel, so I shoved a mic in his grille and fired off a few questions, which he musta thought were pretty stupid, 'cuz he gave me some smartass responses. He didn't appreciate my trying to get in the limo with him, either.

I was emcee at a reggae concert in Santa Barbara that Inner Circle (Bad Boys) was headlining, with instructions to introduce them onstage. When I tried to do so, the lead singer basically told me to get the fuck off the stage. I told the nog to go burn a spleef and chill.

Similarly, I was introducing George Thorogood & The Destroyers onstage at the Ventura Theater, and wanted to shake hands and introduce myself to Thorogood backstage before the show began. He copped a 'tude and game face like he was gettin' ready to take the mound for Game 7 of the World Series, and couldn't be distracted by specks of insignificance like me. So I was all like, "It's no wonder you drink alone."

Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes never dissed me, but basically insinuated during a live on-air interview that the female deejay from the station I was working at who was conducting the interview was a dyke. She was debinitely not down widdat.

Some of the cooler rockers I've either met or interviewed by phone are Alice Cooper, Colin Bluntstone (Zombies vocalist), and Joe Satriani (phone interviews), Peter Frampton, and Alan Parsons.
